Let Me Tell You About My Issued DW6600

Im going to try and keep this short because I’ve got a million stories with this watch so I’ll try to not go on and on but this piece has quite literally been around the world a couple of times.

I joined the Navy in 2011, had a great job with awesome leadership and a lot of that accrued to simply being good at my job, looking out for my guys and I’ll say, athleticism is a major factor. It’s easy if you’re just a little capable 🤷🏽

In Vietnam, Da Nang to be specific during a night out on the town (every story is true that you hear about overseas shenanigans) in the cab my libo buddies and I realized we had no cash at the drop off. He was happy to take my DW6900 as payment. I was bummed, I still had a while on deployment and now no watch. I wasn’t big in the watch game and had no clue I was in a major watch hub so I left with nothing on my wrist. Along the way out to sea from beautiful Da Nang and Hoi An I mentioned to my Chief that I had to offload my timepiece so that the cab driver wouldn’t follow us back to where we were and alert my command. I was junior and not looking to get in trouble as I had just received multiple qualifications and would be a somewhat pivotal part in SAR operations during Hurricane Maria, in PI which was where we were heading.

My Chief, who later became my mentor and hand selected me as the lead instructor for my rating handed me his issued (from a very cool and more operative command he was at prior to our current one) DW6600 after showing me his newly purchased Breitling. Battery died while in the sandbox but I still wore it the entire time. Even upon arriving back home I never took it off. I now have a semi normal job and all that excitement is behind me but I wanted to tell someone about this beautiful piece. Thanks, Josh. 🏴‍☠️🏊🏼‍♂️🤿🚁

I have the 6900 I wore for a large majority of my 21 years in the Army. Wear a Tudor Pelagos FXD now, it still have my gshock.

G-Shock to Tudor is always a solid move. I have so much respect for you guys! Ft. Carson was amazing and it was cool to see aviation on the green side of things 🤙🏼🍻

Well done, sailor! Fantastic story and watch!

I love how these timepieces collect stories like this. To any onlooker it's just a watch, but to the wearer, something else.

I lost my issed watch somewhere in the Mediterranean Sea. Replaced it with an SKX and the rest is history 😂.

Hooyah! I lost a Nixon Supertide in the drink myself, maybe it’s a form of payment we all owe to Davey Jones? 🤣
