I’m thinking of selling my Datejust 16013 to get a 124270 Explorer.
Before I owned the Datejust, I had a BB54, which I wore daily. I’m not a fan of having a large collection where each watch only gets limited wrist time. Besides my Rolex, I also have a CWC Mellor 72 mechanical, which I love as well.
The Datejust is my current daily, and I truly love that watch. However, when I think back to my BB54, I miss having a GADA luxury watch. I know some of you might say, “Then just wear your CWC,” but somehow, when choosing a watch for the day, I always end up picking my favorite — which is currently the Datejust.
The Explorer has always been one of my favorite watches, and I really like the new version, especially the bracelet.
I’m currently on the waitlist at two ADs here in Vienna — let’s see how long that takes.

Sell it and go for the Explorer

That’s the plan for now. It’s already been 10 months of waiting. I hope it doesn’t take too long. They said it would take 2-3 years, but I am optimistic.

Thank you. I understand your point, but for someone who doesn’t have the financial means to own multiple luxury watches, it’s a one-in, one-out policy. I love watches, but there’s more to life.
Keep the DJ and add the Explorer
Don’t try to justify to yourself why you want to sell something or buy something else. Watches are about emotions and the smile they put on your face when you look down your wrist. If your smile is going to be bigger with the explorer then go for it. All Rolex watches except Cellini and 1908 can be GADA watches. They are all indestructible and water resistant by far more than what you need. It’s just a matter of taste.
You know you’ve already decided on the Explorer, either you sell the DateJust n get the Explorer or Keep the DateJust n sell the CWC. Good luck n best wishes.
