Aussie SOTC 2024 - Extra pictures inside!

Hello everyone 🙂 Thought I would post my current collection. Being in Australia, watch nerds can be a bit less common to come by, so it's been amazing seeing all the watches that everyone shares here. Anyway, here's my collection.

1- Grand Seiko SBGJ249

Image

Grand Seiko seems to be a WatchCrunch favourite and it's easy to see why. Amazing dials, especially the indices, with fantastic movements for a price that's extremely competitive compared to Rolex. This particular watch caught my attention immediately.

2 - Glashütte Original PanoMaticLunar

Image

The Lange 1 was always the grail piece that will forever be unobtainable - but this has more than satiated my curiosity for ALS.

3 - Tissot Powermatic 80 Open Heart

Image

This was my first mechanical watch, and at the time the open heart fascinated me. A mechanical movement, powered all by me! I'm sure lots of people have felt the same way when first getting into watches.

4 - Oris Divers Sixty-Five 36

Image

I picked this up from Sinagpore. Oris prices have started to become a bit too dear for me to be comfortable buying another one (as have many brands), but this served me very well for many years.

5 - Omega Constellation Day-Date

Image

My grandfather's watch, and hence one of my sentimental watches. I switched up the plastic glass to a sapphire one so that it could withstand my daily wear.

6 - Mido Baroncelli Heritage 39

Image

I wish we saw more Midos around. Every Mido I've handled has been really nice, with proper attention paid to what watch enthusiasts want.

7 - Nomos Ludwig 33

Image

My wedding watch. Despite getting the PanoMaticLunar I still wear this on a very consistent basis, because I think it more than holds its own against more expensive watches.

8 - Oris Big Crown Pointer Date 36

Image

Oris has such unique watches that they are instantly recognisable. The Aquis line and BCPD line are both examples of watches that don't quite have anything else like them, and I love how this watch makes the date function fun.

9 - Moonswatch Mission to Jupiter

Image

Perhaps rightfully, the Moonswatch gets a bit of a bad rep for how overpriced they are. But if I ignore cash grab aspect of the release (difficult, I know), then I've had so much fun being able to put an iconic design on my wrist for a fraction of the price of the real thing.

10 - Tudor Black Bay Pro

Image

When the Black Bay 58 was first released I loved the design. But I'm someone who needs the date most of the time, so when this watch was announced I was pretty set on getting it.

10 watches in a collection is probably enough :)

Thanks for reading! The WRUW section of WatchCrunch has added so much fun to watch collecting and sharing, and it's so fun interacting with other watch lovers.

Thanks! I'm armed with only my phone camera.

@frankfreak0914 is probably my favourite watch photographer, I hope one day I can come closer to his level.

You have a great collection! Love the breadth and depth. Of course, as a GS fangirl you had me at your first pick.

I would love to have a second GS although, doubt if I will be able to afford another. Except there’s a small quartz GS with a snowflake dial that might be obtainable.

They really dangled that one in front of us, didn’t they???

Thanks Java! That GS you're referring to is a wonderful, delicate thing.

You have a gorgeous collection, my friend. That Omega is pure class.

Thank you! Being my grandfathers watch it's the one I would grab if I was running out of a burning house.

Which one are you referring to?

Oops my bad, noticed you got 2 on there lol. The big crown. Really like how the white contrasts with the minty dial.

·

Cool collection mate! Although i have to say the nomos looks best on your wrist the rest is on a larger size for your wrist just my opinion! All crazy good watch though my fav gotta be minty dial oris!

Yeah! It's a watch that can be low-key while still feeling quite fresh and colourful.

·

I'd say, imo, best SOTC ever on WC. Stunning peices. You have exquisite taste. A GO, GS and Nomos 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Thanks man! Agreed that optimally I would have a larger wrist. But it got to the point where I didn't mind the larger size because I love the way they look and feel.

You have some beautiful watches. That red Seiko looks stunning in your photos, I can only imagine how much more vibrant and lively the dial is in real life!

It’s a Seiko Cocktail Time. Comes in several colors. Some think it’s the best dress watch under $500. The dials sure are nice.

·

Fantastic collection, thank you for sharing. Some real variety there.

·

I know it’a a wired question but… can I ask your wrist size?

Love the BCPD! Especially that colour 😍

·

Thanks for sharing your watch collecting journey, you have a great collection. I’m an Oris guy so your thoughts really speak to me. I also love your GS. Cheers from Finland!🇫🇮

·

I like your collection a lot. GO and the Tudor BBP could do it all for me!

Any plans for the future?

What kind of camera did you use to take these beautiful shots? Really great staging

It's just from my Galaxy S23 camera :) I gotta admit I don't even know what staging means in photography lol.

Hey there!

I admire your collection. You've put a lot of thought into each piece, which shows.

Grand Seiko is always a solid choice, with unmatched craftsmanship and attention to detail. The Glashütte Original is another fantastic pick, remarkable for its precision and heritage. The Tissot Powermatic 80 Open is practical and stylish, boasting an impressive 80-hour power reserve and a sophisticated open-heart design.

The Oris Divers Sixty-Five is a classic diver with vintage charm, and it's one of my favorites in your collection. The Omega Constellation Day Date needs no introduction, as it is elegant and versatile. The Mido Baroncelli Heritage is a hidden gem with its timeless design and reliability.

Nomos Ludwig's minimalist design, with clean lines and Bauhaus influence, is always refreshing. The Oris Big Crown Pointer Date is unique with its pointer date complication. The Moonswatch Mission to Mars adds a playful touch, and the Tudor Black Bay Pro is a fantastic tool watch.

Your collection perfectly balances high-end, practicality, and some fun pieces. It's great to see such a variety and thoughtful selection. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you. Which is your favourite?

Nah not a weird question at all, it's good to have a reference point. It's 15cm.

I've played with the thought of a DJ36 or a blue JLC Master Control. But none of them have fully convinced me. I think when you're dropping thousands into a watch, you should probably be obsessing over it, looking into every detail, every review. That's what happened with my GO and GS. The only other watch that has come close to that for me is a Breguet Tradition 7027, but that's not financially viable for me.

·
Dozerduff

Oh nice! Thats a good reference to have. The speedy is 40mm and sits at 15mm in thickness. Now I feel like I have to get the BB Pro lol. My fiance is going to kill me. 😀

And it'll be worth it 😀

Nice glashutte moonphase

Thanks. It's probably the watch that gets most attention from non watch geeks.

Nice Glashutte!! That one is on my list.
