Does a particular brand or complication dominate your ⌚ arsenal?

I have not cultivated my ⌚ collection, so to speak, to the degree that I aspire but cannot think of a dominating brand at present.

In truth, I never felt that one brand deserved more attention than another because I tried to choose each ⌚ for a distinct attribute.

Heritage, chronograph pusher style (e.g., screw down pusher vs monopusher, etc.), column wheel vs cam-actuated chronograph mechanism, pulsometer vs tachymeter scaling, enamel dial, titanium vs steel, etc.

I suppose that chronographs dominate my collection.

Per Kevin O'Leary, I can certainly say that I have a "collection" of chronographs, albeit from different brands, because I have an assortment of different chronographs exceeding three.

A flyback and split second chronograph could help round it out, though I struggle to find a brand that can have both (maybe Patek Philippe).

In any event, the current state of my ⌚ collection has an even representation by brand.

The aspired collection will probably maintain those ratios for brands but will continue to be heavy in chronographs.

How about you and your collection?

Do you have a theme by brand, complication, aesthetic, or something else?

Even if only one ⌚, what drove you to single out this particular ⌚?

If you so desire, please leave comments below?

I prefer chronographs but admire engineering in ⌚, which leads me to contemplate #jaegerlecoultre , #glashutteoriginal , and possibly even #parmigianifleurier .

Those three are stratospherically apart from me at present, but I am rather convinced that #alangeandsohne and I can never coexist in the same ZIP Code.

Are there any brands that resonate with you for future acquisition? Why?

No judgement: neither my not anyone else's place to be critical of taste here, so please be civil.

Do date complications count?

Do date complications count?

Absolutely.

Why not?

Brand is Casio, type of Watch is diver, complication is date, but more complicated complications would be a tie between GMT and chronograph

I used to collect one watch from a brand then go to another brand and not repeat brands so I could experience new brands. Life is so short and I’ll never own them all so I thought it was the best bet to go this route. However, then this happened. Will probably sell the seamaster and Panerai if I get a call for a Daytona or a gmt master and just embrace being a Rolex guy.

3 Seikos and 1 each of 10 other brands. Mostly divers and field, no GMT, no digital and no chronos. I'll probably get a couple more like what I have.

·

Love me some GMTs. I have three, 4 if I include the reverse dual face.

I thought about trying the "variety of brands" focus, but it just didn't seem like it was going to make sense for me. It feels kind of like trying to focus on having a variety of authors in a book collection or a variety of artists in a music collection. If you really like how someone is doing something, forcing yourself to not play into that just seems wrong. Favorites are okay.

Now, I am not a Rolex fan. . .but. . .I absolutely love the Pepsi GMT Master II on a Jubilee bracelet.

It is really great, though, if Rolex satisfies your curiosities.

I will hand it to them that they have cultivated a classic style to the mechanical ⌚ that others have not.

Hope you get those calls.

Amen to that!!!

It is really difficult for me to contemplate a ⌚ lacking a complex complication, and the GMT ⌚ just makes it right in so many ways: sporty, dressy, and functional.

The #jaegerlecoultre #reverso #duoface is one of my favorites and has a HIGH PRIORITY over most ⌚ on my list, particularly the 18K chronograph: 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻.

No brand or complication but I'd say a certain style does dominate. I prefer "sporty" watches. I define them as ones that aren't dressy and are generally pretty versatile but robust. I don't play basketball or anything while wearing them but they're all sporty in the sense that they are smart and casual but stylish. If that makes any sense.

A well conceived sports ⌚ can tick the box for many an occasion.

Besides, I am not of the mindset to wear these timepieces during exercise anyway and presume that this is a prevalent view.

Funny you said that because I just passed on the Seiko #spb143 , which I thought matched the profile you mentioned.

Not the most complicated ⌚ and riddled with controversy, however deserved or not but a classic case and handsome dial with a healthy water resistance rating.

My watch has to always show the local time no matter what mode I'm in. (Timer, world time, etc.)

Oris got me into collecting watches some 22 years ago and still love the brand to this day and my Oris count currently stands at thirteen. Love their Aquis line but also a huge fane of the Big Crown Pilot watches.

I also have a man crush on certain Bulova models with the 262khz movement, currently own ten.

My latest obsession has become Casio metals along with the MTG line. In the past three months, I've picked up four metal squares and two MTG models. Currently own 13 Casios in total.

Can't say that I gravitate to a particular style, but I do like the variety of my collection.

Exactly, they are well rounded. The SPB143 fits the sport watch profile really well.

Judging only by the numbers the clear winner is CASIO in my case.

Glad it works for you.

Certainly offers the most complications for the money.

Id say it’s Tudor and the No-date thing is something that’s pretty common in my collection although I don’t even particularly like no dates

Tudors have great value, which is always welcome, while no date ⌚ help to highlight attributes of the dial.

I have a lot of chronos. I do use them in my life, and I honestly just like the look.

That look is so habitual for me that a three hand ⌚ looks naked and has a busted engine.

I need to have a timer on hand.

One-third of my collection are from Seiko brand, one-half of my collection are dive watches. There are a total of 12 watch brands in my collection. I have a broad range of movement complications. As much as I fancy luxury Swiss watches, I also love affordable pieces. By the way, I’m a scuba diving Instructor. 👌🏻

Very excellent.

Makes sense that your collection is predominantly full of dive ⌚ but a sensible investment nonetheless!!!

Versatile pieces.

Seiko is like a family member who gets slightly annoying after a while but is missed sorely when without, so I can understand Seiko representation.

Nice collection. I do the exact opposite. Because my collection consists of more affordable watches, I have to limit myself to one watch per brand, at least for now. Otherwise it would escalate. Exept Casio, because they started the whole thing.

Chronos are great, I am with you on that.

·

If I’m being really specific, it’s divers with date complications. 8 of my 9 watches have 150m of water resistance or more (highest is 600m). Of those, it’s two Omegas, an Islander, a Momentum, a Seiko, and 3 Casios.

I’d say that my Omegas dominate over everything else, as I wear them the most. However, my Casios come in right behind them. I’ll generally have a G-Shock on for the night and the gym in the morning, and swap to an analog after that.

·

I have mostly Casios, around half of my collection. Complication wise, I have mostly date functions and some sort of stoppwatch funktion, be it digital or analog.

·

Although I have others, I definitely gravitate to black divers. Seiko and Tudor dominate my collection.

Nice!!!

I hope that you enjoy it.

I am glad to have found them because the boxes look nice and of good quality.

They are made from joinery and not simple construction.

Now, I am looking at one.
