1970 Bulova Deep Sea Chronograph 'A'. They call this one the surf board and Bulova recently reissued this with a quartz movement and 200 m water resistance which is pretty cool. The second picture is a direct comparison - you can see the idea was there but it's not a direct match up. Simple things like the running seconds on the other side and the unnecessary amount of dial.

They also did an automatic version that was thicker than you'd expect at 16.7 mm. Anyone got one of these reissue?

I have the quartz reissue, same as the one in the picture. I love it, but I really like how compact that original one is.

The reissue is faithful enough - I do wish they had squished everything down a bit more and not used a sandwich dial. I was hoping they would do it with a correct size steel bracelet so I could pop it on my vintage! No such luck 🎲

I liked the look of the bracelet on the automatic reissues, but there was no way I was paying that much.

Yeah mad numbers - but the real killer was the thickness. The most recent Tissot PR516 Chronograph reissue shows you can use a manual wind and it's just as effective and thinner!
