Real or Frankenstein?
Does anybody have any knowledge of this vintage Omega Cosmic? I’ve been looking at it on eBay (yes, 🚩alert) and the black date wheel is throwing me. I can’t find any other examples of this watch with a black date wheel and a white/silver dial. I’m thinking it could be a mash up of other parts and don’t want to get stung. Not easy, as even Omega has been caught out themselves not so long ago. Would be grateful for any thoughts or insights.

Maybe, but wouldn't deter me if the price is right & it's running ok.
The only thing then, is what else has been changed or replaced?
Not sure black date wheels were a thing when this particular model was current but I am not an expert, but safe to assume this watch was put together with extra parts. Additionally there would be no reason for Omega to fit a black date wheel into this watch. I would pass.

My 2 cents but it is a nice looking clean watch if the price is right, unless you are a serious collector might be ok to have to wear. Honestly I collected hundreds of vintage back in the 80s, brands except for Rolex were safe, sellers couldn’t be bothered making Franken but these days unless you are buying from an original owner or finding a watch in a pawnshop, watch has been messed with. Take care.👍

I wouldn't have a problem with it. If it runs OK, and looks good. I think it is gorgeous with the black datewheel. Of course - it has te be reflected in the price - i.e. if you don't pay top dollar, you should be fine. Enjoy the piece.
Classic #vintage watch but would definitely see if you can get this looked at before making a decision
I'm not sure if it is the real deal, but i kind of like the black date wheel. It works for me. If the price is right, i'd go for it.
