Don’t worry, I’m not gonna knock off Cartier (**completely 😉)

For years I have dreamt of designing my own watch.
When I was in undergrad studying industrial design, all my professors would beg me to create something that wasn’t a watch… I told them politely to kick rocks 😂.
Well after apply for over 200 industrial design jobs with my fascinating portfolio of watches… I landed my dream job working for Cartier.
Sike I’m in business development & havent used any skills related to my undergraduate experience outside of maybe copious amounts of patience and my ability to survive off of top ramen. Maybe I should have diversified my design portfolio 🤔
So anyways, I’ve been talking about watches on TikTok for some time now and have noticed a trend towards neo-vintage watches (my favorite era of watches)
Oddly enough I’ve gained close to 8,000 followers on TikTok who also share this specific design palette as well.
I told my TikTok following that if I can get my TokTok page to 100k, I’ll launch a watch brand, so in the mean time let’s have some fun with this concept, just in case it happens sooner than later
Objective:
Design a watch that fits within aesthetic of the neo-vintage era.
Sharp edges
Minimal but efficient curves
Slim & smaller dimensions (37mm or less)
Outside of my blatant copy of a Cartier what do we have to say about this sketch. I know this is a difficult task considering there isn’t much to point out that’s “original” so to speak bu, none the less I’ve turned on the bat signal and need your help.
Also, if you’re interested hit that follow button… wherever it is. Serious Crunch, do I really have to go into a profile just to follow someone 🫠
I’ll be positing more on this specific topic frequently.
PS: Did I mention I love Cartier, but not as much as I love you 💞

Curious about your design process. for example- how did you decide not to include screws or bolts on the bezel?
The founder of Horage said that the hands are the eyes of the watch. Others have said that a brand should be immediately identifiable by the hands. Curious to see what you come up with - best of luck!
Demir is a cool name for a brand to be honest
Please don't leave out the 6 and 12 indexes
Very cool drawings. Take a look at Breda watches, they are doing something similar.

Rapid decision making. Do what I can fast and true to my gut, review, iterate and repeat. In school the idea was to produce as much as possible as fast as possible on the first round. Then review the ideas and move forward with round two.

💯 can wait to start considering the hands. Some day soon

Thank you! My adoptive last name. It means “of iron” in Turkish not in the literal sense.

Left them out here because I know I want something special.

🤝 I know of Breda. Good idea
IWC ingenieur crown, seiko majesta bracelets and Cartier tank shape 😤😮💨😮💨😮💨 I think the dial and the font of the markers are gonna really tie this great blend together
It’s a really cool mix of Cartier and Seiko styles. There aren’t any changes I would make that aren’t personal preference. Good job
