Trying on GS, Longines, Tudor on a 6" wrist

Hey all, tried on some of the watches at the top of my wishlist yesterday at the AD. Was surprised by both how little I liked the SBGA489 on wrist (pic 2) and how much I loved the Longines spirit Zulu time (pic 3). I keep telling myself I don't need a GMT but damn do they look good!

Anyways just wanted to share, especially for all the other guys with small wrists like me. Glad the trend right now is smaller lug to lugs!

Pic 1: GS, sorry, not sure what model this is, I want to say it's a shunbun but not sure since it's a high beat vs spring drive? If anyone knows, please comment!

Pic 3: Longines Spirit Zulu Time

Pic 4: Tudor BB58

Pic 5: Tudor BB54

Looks like the bb54 fits you best

·

The spring drive GS are, sadly, quite large for dress watches and difficult to wear on a small wrist.

They do however have 37mm watches in quartz or high beat movements, most notably a 37mm version of the popular Snowflake (SBGX355) that I think would work perfectly on your wrist. 👍

·

The BB54 fits you perfectly. But man, that Longines is a stunner. Hard choice.

Nice I'll have to give those a try next time!

·

If you want a metal bracelet go for the BB54. however, the BB58 on nato would work very well. I also have slim wrists and have a BB58 on nato and it fits really well

·

Love the Longines as well. The avigation big eye and this are on the short list. I keep telling myself that I want a new gmt but already have an Omega great white so it is hard to justify.

·

Got to be the BB54

·

As much as I love the 44GS case, I have to give my vote to BB54 as it relates to your wrist. I mean the 44GS isn’t so big that it’s offensive for modern tastes, but the 54 is just a more natural fit judging by the pictures.

·

Having said that, I would also suggest you take wristshots further away next time because your phone’s lens will make the watch appear larger on your wrist than it otherwise might be in reality.

Great advice, thanks!

I think this is the SLGH013 https://monochrome-watches.com/grand-seiko-heritage-44gs-hi-beat-calibre-9sa5-ice-blue-dial-slgh013-hands-on-price/.Agree with everyone, unless you like having bigger watches, the 54 fits you best.

·

Both of the Tudors look fantastic on you. That Longines is beautiful too!

·

Pic 1 is the SLGH013. An absolute stunner, but the 44GS case does fit bigger than other 40mm cases. I ended up buying the sbgw289 instead to still have the case design in a 36mm size, which fits perfect. I LOVED the SLGH013 in my hands, but it didnt fit amazing on my wrist (6.5" wrist) I personally like the BB54 on you best. Followed by the BB58.

I've got similar struggles of basically being sized out of most popular models, but if you check out the 36-38mm sizes you'll find some good ones. Off the top of my head. I'd recommend you check out the Omega Aqua terra any color in 38mm, Tag Heuer glassbox chrono at 39mm, Longines Conquest 38mm in any color. Nomos club campus 36. And the Grand Seiko SBGY007 Omiwatari

·

Wow thanks for such specific recommendations! I'll be sure to check em out

·

The last one has minimal wrist cavity that you don't need a dentist.

·

The Longines appears from the pictures to be the most ill fitting regarding size. Just a non requested observation from a pic online and my opinion. I think the Tudors look best on you.

·

Here's how a GS heritage line 37mm looks on my 6.5" wrist. I guess it can fit well yours too. This is the SBGX261, and is not the only model in that size. It's quartz, weight is 120g sized.

Good luck with your search. 👍

Longines can do no wrong for me at the moment

·

Agree with the comments above, pic 1 is SLGH013. Love its movement and dial. This piece is understated with fine details to be appreciated by those who know.

I've a few Tudors, including BB58. Tudors make great watch and I do like wearing them.. The difference is that GS watches provide you with "Easter eggs" whenever you spend time admiring them while Tudor watches could be quite plain albeit being well built. Nothing wrong with the being simple, but it is good to have something special to admire from time to time.

My wrist is relatively small as well, below are a couple of pictures of these 2 watches, after being resized/changed to strap.

I like all of your selection above and am pretty sure that you will be happy with either of them. Regarding GMT function, as with most of the other watch functions, do most of the wearers actually always use them? I, for one, might not travel with my GMT watches nor do I time with my chronograph every time I put one on.

If pic one is pink it could be the Grand Seiko SBGH341 Sakura-Kakushi

This case size follows the curvature of your wrist beautifully. It's like it was custom-made to your arm! 👌

Agreed, looks perfect on them!

·

The Tudor BB54 looks especially wonderful on you!!

You can try the 62GS case too (season ones that are 40mm but wear smaller, or the new smaller one) - pic below is of the Fall one.

How big of a factor is price? If you are loaded then get the first GS. If price is a factor then get the fourth picture BB. The longines actually looks great but I personally already have a watch in that tier already and want to move out of it 🤑

Also if this is like a retirement watch get the GS. The BB is more of a play watch while the GS there can pull off work as well as play. Ppl keep trying to make youtube videos saying divers can do both work and play but it's just not true. Desk divers are fine for casual office work in a cube etc but for client events and meetings you would want a GS. And if it's poolside the divers are awesome but the GS can pull that off too very well. So you could use the GS at all retirement events and travel. The diver is more of a cubicle or out for food and drinks with friends or co workers in a casual sense.

I see ppl saying to wear their diver at weddings etc but it's just not the place for it. It's a stretch. I mean if that is the case then we can all get gshocks and wear them for every occasion too haha.

Really like the BB54 on you!!

I had that SLGH013 in my sights for so long till I tried it on and had my heart ripped out lol. It looks really good on you man. Took me so long to find the SBGW289. Still get the 44GS, but smaller, manual wind, with that slight blush pink dial, and I save a few grand in the process. The frost on that SLGH though is just so good in person. It's nickname should be permafrost, cuz it literally looks permanently frozen. Not to mention you get the incredible 9SA5 hi beat beast

·

Go with the BB54....size-wise, it fits best...☝️

It's a great watch, and the gilt accent fits nicely with your tattoos.👍

·

You sure are knowledgeable, couldn't agree more!

SBGW289 is great, I feel that it excretes more of a vintage vibe (with modern dependency) with the smaller case size and manual wind. This goes really well with the reasons behind having 44GS ya

·

The new Omega Aquatera 38mm on black dial with micro adjust would be another option.

·

Oh man, now I want a BB54. I have a 6 inch wrist as well and had always been intimidated to try dive watches.
