I have tried AND succeeded in not liking this model in the Rolex catalogue for sooo long! I keep seeing it on the wrists of enthusiasts, however…and I’ve COMPLETELY done a 180° turn of opinion on this watch!! I now think I might actually WANT one - badly! (This is not good…. 😆)
What a great choice, I have the exact same model. The updates Rolex made on the AirKing made it perfect for me. The pops of colour, the crown guards, the zero on the 5 numeral... plus the thinner profile. One of the favourites in my collection... and I love the fact that's it's so polarising.

Think I read that the dial is quite clustered. Got offered this 3 days ago and heavily read about it. I think if my ad offered me a explorer 1 I might get it
This model is great watch from my point of view. Even better after the update. Together with Eplorer my most favourite ine from ROLEX.
Born in 1945 and from 1958 with Air King text on the dial.

TBH I never understood that dial design, with its mix of hour and minute numbers. It just triggers my OCD. And in case you are wondering, California dials are not for me either.

I tried one on a few weeks ago and was suprised how understated it was in real life. After seeing it in close up so many times on the screen it comes across as very busy. But in real life it was lovely

Agree, from a general watch enthusiast's viewpoint (rather than Rolex afficionado) I think this, the Milligaus, and the Celebration are some of the hobbyist's best choices!
