Why is 10:10 Better than 1:50?

And by "better" I mean more often used in watch photography. It's technically the same amount of symmetry either way. Is it because 10:10 resembles a checkmark, a shape we're familiar with? Or that most languages are read from left to right, so we like the hour hand coming "first"? Am I crazy for thinking about this all afternoon?
