How did this end up at Costco?!?!

First of all I was looking for "grills" but this somehow showed up. I'm not familiar with this model nor do I want it but it does excite me to see them carrying "luxury" watches again

It’s like 50mm and from the 2000s…. Not many ppl that will buy it ..

·

It's in Costco presumably as it's not sold well through their normal channels.

·

Also ewww who photographs a watch with the freakin crown sticking out like that! 🤢

That is a pretty decent watch unless the buyer is part of the small watch cohort, Breitling for Bentley watch, Worldtimer BO1 in house movement, of course much older timepiece launched more than a decade ago was hugely expensive. I purchased the regular Transocean iteration, remains one of my favourite watches, it is not a shy watch, 48mm, suspect the Bentley is even larger. You have to

consider this watch through the focus of the era, people wore bigger timepieces during that period in keeping with popular fashions of the same period.

48mm is in my comfort zone Jerry and thanks for reminding me about the Bently watches they made, I knew it looked familiar but I couldn't put my finger on it.

The Bentley were goofy but nice but were too much $$$ plus you really shouldn’t be wearing one unless you have a few parked in some secure garage. Have a great day!

Thanks to Costco fighting a big watch brand (Omega) all the way to the Supreme Court (where it technically tied and therefore lost) but won on remand to the trial court and then back on appeal to the Ninth Circuit (tldr last of many court opinions: https://casetext.com/case/omega-sa-v-costco-wholesale-corp-4).

Basically a long expensive road to establishing every grey market dealer's right to sell grey market watches purchased abroad in the US.

I am just bummed I never saw any of the Seamasters at the center of that case in my local warehouse. I'm off to my weekly warehouse treasure hunt now.

Best wishes on hunting my local stores don't really have high end watches anymore. They use to have Breitling, corum, even saw a Panerai and high end Rolex at one point

My Transocean is 46mm but looks huge anyways, lol. I like big watches for my old eyes but 48mm is the outside case size and only because I have a few Breitlings from more than a decade ago. My niece wears her dad’s late 80s Chronomat, my daughter wears one of my older Chronomats that might be 44mm, my wife used to own a mid size that was stolen from our hotel room when she left it on a bureau and just forgot about it. She is not a watch person.
