What do you consider the most criminal watch/strap combination?

Hello Crunchers, A poll just for fun: What do you think is the most criminal/worst/horrible/hilariously bad watch and strap combination? As collectors, we've all made some questionable choices when it comes to straps. Some of us will admit to it first before others. With that being said, here I'm sharing one of my questionable watch/strap combinations that I (genuinely) think looks really cool: A Rado Captain Cook on a leather bund strap 😬 I only break out this combination during the Fall, but I will not fault you for calling me insane. Let's hear your opinions! (And maybe share a wrist shot if you're brave)

We all like different stuff. Nothing is criminal.

Tudor BB58 and GS bracelets

·

I actually like all those things, nothing criminal about liking watches to me 🤌🏻

There are many things impractical about our watch hobby, but bund straps take the cake for me. There is almost never a situation in our modern times where we will need a layer of leather to protect us from extreme hot or cold weather. It can also get pretty sweaty wearing that in most climates..

Definitely an interesting combo for sure... I'm always fascinated when people put OEM steel bracelets from one watch onto another it wasn't made for.

Haha I have both and they’ve both grown on me.

Completely agree, I just like them for the vintage aesthetic and that they help "beef" up the presence of certain watches on wrist. The one I have is actually super comfortable during the colder months.

If the Bund ever becomes the only option, I’ll quit wearing watches.

Leather on anything 😜

·

Dive watch on leather is a real toss-up. Ever seen a Captain Cook on a nice brown strap? Mint

·

How about a diver on leather and a bund?

There’s no rules in my book.

Y’see, I dislike leather with a diver, but I love this. ❤️🤷🏻‍♂️

Definitely bold. However after looking through your profile a bit, I'm clearly missing out on some sailcloth and Alcantara straps....

Sometimes I wear my Captain Cook with just the strap and it is also 👌

·

As a retired diver, a dive watch on leather is the worst. Unless of course you have an Anonimo Firenze Diver on waterproof Kodiak Leather, that one is ok.

Some way he’s look super cool on the bund strap but it has to be the right watch. Dive watches on leather looks ok sometimes but dress watches on nato I never even considered. The worst strap is the blue and yellow Ukraine ones Adrian barker was selling

Powwow

That somehow, maybe, possibly works 🤔

Thanks Craig!

·

Crocogator straps on anything… I absolutely hate them 😂

·

An Apple Watch on a Bund Strap now that's criminal 😂

·

A, compares to others, but I do it too.

·

I quite like the bund strap on my hanhart, although I don’t think I’d wear any other watch in my collection on a bund.

Part of the reason I want one of these is because it comes with and looks amazing with a bund strap

What was one of your favorite dive watches that you’ve used in the water?

D: Kevin O'Leary red straps 😨

I'm an ex Coast Guard Diver 1970's-80's. Our official, unofficial dive watch at the time was Seiko 6105, 6159, & 6309 dive watches. These are still my favorite as they are trustworthy and tough. I've completed hundreds of dives with them and they are still trustworthy to this day. At the time 150m was the minimum depth rating standard for a dive watch; this was later changed to 200m.

If I had to pick a modern dive watch my Oris ProDiver would be the top pick. But I would trust most pieces from the Seiko Prospex line as well.

Currently binge watching Shark Tank episodes right now lol… sure the red straps don’t go with everything, but I think it’s cool that that’s his signature thing when it comes to watches.

A Seiko Prospex diver is on my list soon… I’m generally partial to Citizen Promasters. Really cool though to hear from a former Coast Guard member that Seiko was the brand of choice. Will need to check out the Oris ProDiver too, as an Oris is also on my list eventually.
