My will power sucks!

I don't know about my fellow Crunchers but I can't control myself. I have about 20 watches that I actively wear and maybe a few I hid from myself so that I don't really see the numbers.

I now look at ebay and Chrono24 at least three time a day. The other night I woke up at 3am to bid on a watch (that didn't need or will use too much,). I didn't get it but that's not the point. I have spread this craze on to my children too. My son and I only talk about warches. Oh the madness.

Please tell me there is a 12 step program. Wait. Wait got to go I'm bidding on my fifth Tagheuer.

This place is the opposite of that. Practice missing out; it's good for you.

·

I don’t understand. What’s the problem here?

You have to get to that place where you are honest with yourself. Realise the craziness of your actions. Accept that it's all for the dopamine hit & then brutally put them up for sale.

It's not easy, you cannot think it over, you must act without emotion. By doing this I have sold 15 watches in the last month. I've still got another 10 to go before I'm left with a dozen.

How do I feel? I feel a lot more in control. I feel I've broken the cycle. My bank balance is significantly higher, although that wasn't the motivation. The big take out of this cull is that I am able to see a watch I want but now I can say no.

Start modding!! It's fun, fuels education and it'll slow you down when you realize you paid $700 for a logo with a sapphire case back because you just built the same one for $200😎

Right there with you! Wise words. Sensible words.

By far a more reasonable option! 💯

True. But selling off the unworn and grown away from watches to people who will appreciate them is a great feeling. I have one great watch I’m waiting for as a reward. And it’s just especially my little favourite. No big name, no public noise. Feels really great.

That's a very nice consequence to wait on for your actions 😎

Unfortunately I'm not going to have that pleasure due to unforseen family circumstances. Money that I had in watches has gone to the benefit of parental well being. It's been as a result of this circumstance that I realised my collecting has really been a rather selfish, needless pursuit.

I still have a number of really nice watches that over the next year I hope to get down to a handful. If I manage that, the very nice watch will become a reality then 🙏

I understand completely. I can relate. I’m sorry to hear of your very real, emotionally intense issues. Sadly, they happen in our lives and are never easy. Sending warm and agreeable thoughts your way.

Thank you. Fortunately they're not life or death matters, more quality of life issues that thankfully I'm able to help with.

I did fall off the wagon 9 days ago when I pre ordered the Seiko 5 Sports 'Ash blue' 1968 Recreation Limited Edition. That was a £400 wagon, rather than a £4000 wagon, which I think shows some restraint 🤣

Degenerate!

·

I’ll be honest, I really had a thought like 2 weeks ago to try selling all of my watches and just buy one really nice one.

Instead I doubled down and ordered 2 new ones 🥲

·

BTW the way George that's me on your shoulder 🤣. The only way to get rid of temptation is to give into it 😜🤪.

If you’re serious you might want to just talk to your son about watches and not us.

·

I often ask the question about what is wrong with us

·

So you’re coming to a place, full of addicts and asking for help?

Yep. I have enforced my rule that outside of gifts, I will keep my collection to ten max.

Is a brutal practice but needed.

In my mind, I will eventually possess ten that I am unwilling to ever sell. I currently own three watches with several inbound. Of those three, two won't ever be sold.

Is an ongoing process that I enjoy.
