Good deed of the day

Quite pleased with how today went. I helped my friend get his dream watch, a late 90’s Speedy Reduced, serviced last year, and at quite a steal price.

He’s not a watch guy, but we talk about watches in our down time in the office. After maybe a year of talking and browsing we found this Speedy and negotiated a good price on it. He wanted me to inspect it and give it a once over as he has never bought a watch before, so I inspected the watch and gave him the OK to buy it.

Needless to say, he is quite happy with the purchase and I’m quite pleased to help a friend.

Now he’s talking about getting a Tank Must to share with his fiancée 😁😁😁. Thats the start of the rabbit hole 👀👀👀

Great story and fantastic work spreading the hobby to your friend. I'm in a similar position with my friend who will likely buy his first nice watch later this year because of me and my collecting recently lol. He's looking at Doxa. It's very enjoyable for me to share what I've learned on all things horology in my journey so far. He's fully aware how deep this rabbit hole goes...

Those late 90s speedy reduced and date models are great value and readily available. Find a date model with the venerable valjoux 7750 and you've got a cracker of a watch.

Enjoy the watches all.

Yeah my buddy loves bold and large watches. Currently he only owns fashion/mall brand watches like diesel and Nixon hence why I have tried to educate him on the vast world of great brands that awaits him. I don't and won't fault him for buying those brands. You know the ones that are so large in case size that you can serve dinner on? Lol. I told him all watch enthusiasts start at the bottom and our journeys are all different. So simply as I always say, enjoy the watches all!

That’s the best advice anyone could give man. It really is a journey no matter how cliche that sounds. We really do have to start somewhere and find out from there 🍻
