My King Seiko KS1969 SJE115 Is On The Way!
I've been waiting for a King Seiko watch that speaks to me, and this one does. I wanted to love the purple dial version of the KS1969 (my birth year), but I find it boring and don't think it looks as good in the case and on the bracelet as the limited edition I'm getting.
The limited edition speaks to me more, anyway, given my fantasy/mythology geekdom and my Okinawan martial arts background (I even have a tattoo of a Japanese-style dragon with some modifications on my upper arm), the dragon dial really appeals to me. I also love the color. While I like the bracelet, there's a good chance I'm going to try to find a strap for it.
I got lucky to get one. I called our AD (and the jewelry store my wife and I have patronized for decades). I have a great relationship with them (I've purchased a lot of watches from them in recent years). I met the Seiko rep at a special event dedicated to Seiko watches a few weeks back.
When the owner of the store called to try to get one of these for me, all of the initial 60-watch allotment were already spoken for (he also said that apparently all 700 are already spoken for, but I'm not sure I understood him right). He begged the rep to get him one, and mentioned it was for me (the guy known to be both a watch nut and a Seiko/GS nut), and somehow I now have one coming in July.
I can't wait! This will be one more watch off my wish list. I have three left.
