Witness my 97p #bonklip purchase – my wonder of wonders – and my first AliExpress buy.
What do I think of it? Pretty great, actually – amazing, really, considering how something like this can be created for so little cost. I am, however, a little relieved to see that there’s a significant difference between this one and Forstner’s Bonklip. In fact, I’d be pretty annoyed if there weren’t, considering that Forstner’s costs £115.
I think this picture might highlight that difference.
Top is Fortner’s and bottom is the AE bargain. Can you spot the difference?
At both ends of the price spectrum, I’d say both would be pretty happy with their purchase. Which one would be happiest? That’s hard to say, but it’s tough not to feel a little extra joy with a bargain.
Anyway, this strap definitely helps transition my Lorus field watch into ‘Ultimate Beater’ status—for literally pennies.

A great way to find out for sure. In terms of construction, it’s pretty damn good. If it could fit on my GS, I wouldn’t hesitate because it’s pretty secure. The only difference is the slight design variation and the polish/finish.

The bonklip looks awesome Trevor! Would love to have a feel on how the forstner is to justify that price!
Comfort-wise, I reckon they’re the same. Forstner’s is maybe thinner and lighter—feels more refined. The most obvious difference, though, is the finishing of the AE—less polished and smooth. It definitely feels strong enough, though.
