I would go for the new sub, the T-fit clasp is very versatile👍
Ceramic bezel is scratch resistant.
That wears well on you!
I'd go for new. One that I worked hard for and is modern means more to me than a random old watch. They are larger and bolder but that fits with our time. They'll last longer and reflect my time with it. Not to sayi don't appreciate vintage but that's someone else's history, unless it is a family heirloom with some deeper meaning. I had a chance to buy a 5 digit Sub Date but chose a 6 digit.
Having had 4, 5 and 6 digits, he is definitely going for the modern one. While there are aspects to the old case design and symmetry that make it appealing, it looks like a cheap watch next to the new one. The rest is pure romance and poetry.
If I had that much money and time I'd buy a spell checker.
Lol joking 🙃

Hahaha thanks I corrected the typing errors 🤣
I would go new or up to 10 years old.
I’d go new 🍻
The Sub and Explorer are probably the only 6-digit sports model I’d prefer over the 5-digit. GMT, Explorer II, I’d gladly take the 5-digits.
New unworn
Only new from an AD. Can't buy a vintage because the super fakes are very hard to detect and the Frankenwatches are all over the place. Too risky.
I like them both, and i believe they both have a place in the collection. For example, i have a modern no date black sub, and am looking to also acquire a neo vintage kermit. The newer ones are no doubt more robust, sporty etc… but the older 5 digit references have an amazing charm to them, better dimensions, and are a piece of history.
I did my savings and got myself a brand new 126610. 🙋🏻♂️
I'd do new. Although I prefer the toolish look of the vintage watches, gimme new and all current features.
For me vintage but I can fully understand the lust to get a new one and be the first one who scratches it and also building up a good relationship with your AD
Vintage every day for me, unless it's to wear as a daily beater, then I'd go new.
I would go new
New
I have trouble with would I ever buy one full stop! and I don’t know the answer. I have been offered new in the past and had the money; but found other things more interesting. The fact I am supposed to like it and want one, has almost the opposite effect, but I would go new if I was going to.
New for sure. Better watch
41 date new
New
Unless you are going to "collect", I would always go for the new one. Its just "technically" superior in every single way.
14060 or Black Bay monochrome. For me, the ceramic bezel was the final nail in the Sub's coffin.
No. I was offered a brand one by a Rolex AD in the store while it was on my wrist 6 months ago and I turned it down. No regrets.
The 14060M would wear beautifully on your wrist and the alu bezel looks much more tooly/less 'lux' in my opinion (a good thing!). But the bracelet is a very weak point and the lume won't be so good.
The modern 214060 is considerably larger and shinier, but obviously has great lume and bracelet. The ceramic bezel and size make it a bit too flashy for my taste.
The proportions of the 114060 are often a point of contention. Technically it should be the happy medium between the 214060 and the 14060M, but in reality, the consensus seems to be - skip the 114060 and get the 41mm or the Pre-ceramic..
Personally, with a 6.5" wrist, and a penchant for less shiny tool watches - i'd be going for the more classically sized 14060M, buying a steel reef on the fly adjustment link and embrace a little jangle..
My own, similar dilemma - I ended up with the neo-vintage:

There’s nothing wrong with a little romance and poetry! 🥰
I have 14060m which I used to wear daily for 10 years. Now if I need to wear a sub, I will probably buy a new one to wear as a new daily beater. Old 14060m (4 line) has a holy spot in my heart.
Not a popular opinion. I have both and I prefer the modern one. Apart from the solid links, glide lock & ceramic bezel… Something about the case sits on my flat top wrist much better.
A big hell 😎 yeah!
