Would you trade 3 watches (below) for an AP RO Offshore 25721st + cash top up? And why? 😊

Recently I have this crazy idea of trading 3 watches of mine for an AP which is always my grail watch.

But of course, there’s memories tag to my 3 watches:

  1. Omega x Jacques Mayol 300 in 36mm with green wavy dial

  2. Panerai PAM111

  3. Tudor BB DK

Will you ever consider doing such trade? Or keep the watches and save up to get the grail eventually?

I would if it was my grail watch or at least a watch I wanted. If you don’t have emotional connections with the watches you’re gonna be trading away I don’t see an issue.

If there are memories tied to the watches I wouldn't trade them as they are irreplaceable. The AP may be your grail watch but what happens if it doesn't live up to expectations. It also can't compete with the sentimental value of the other three and you'd always compare it to them.

The other thing is 4 watches are better than 3 watches or 1 watch lol

It’s true. Only thing is I really enjoy the PAM111 on my wrist. So that piece is kinda hard to let go

That’s one of my concern as well. Mainly cause I’ve yet to try out the ROO and heard they can be too thick for some people liking. And you’ve a point, keeping 3 watches offers more versatility against one watch

The Panerai would be a keeper for me. The other two I would trade in. But the trade-in value of a used Panerai (~3500€ from private sellers where I live) shouldn’t make that much of a difference compared to the price of the RO Offshore right? How much are they asking for it?

But that answers your question, a clear no 😅

·

If it is really my grail watch, and you really really want it. Go for it. I wouldn’t do that for this specific model.

·

I would consider doing a trade like that.

I wouldn’t do that particular trade as the offshore is too big for me

·

Think of it as children fleeing the nest, it's going to happen sometime. A sad event but if it allows you to get that Lay Z Boy chair you've always wanted & you can watch whatever the hell you want on TV, it sure is worth it!

So I say go out & get that chair..,...I mean AP & smile, smile, smile.

Yea. Apparently they’re asking for 14k Euro. Which is why I’m considering to sell those watches instead of trading in. Then top up balance at my end probably.

That’s a nice analogy there. Like how you compare that to a Lay Z boy chair 🤣

Less is more.

For me personal there is nothing appealing on this particular model. I would rather keep the three watches and the money.

Depends on how much you wear the 3 compared to how much you would wear the RO.

Sounds like the PAM is the only one you will miss and if the RO doesn't work out it wouldn't be to hard to replace compared to some. I would go for it what's the worst that can happen. 😁

True. Worse case scenario is seller remorse, few thousands poorer and an angrier wife 😜

Yup…and yes. Once you’ve had an AP dancing on the wrist & you experience the brain tingle what comes, you get it. Say hello to my compañera, “Olivia” - my Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph Panda.

What he said ☝🏻

·

It depends how deep those memories go with three watches you currently have. And will the memories still be there even if the watches aren't?

Maybe the memories will love on with the AP while at the same time creating new ones. Or maybe be not. Who knows?

Anyway, I voted yes, swap them. But I usually am not like that.

·

No!

But I’m not into AP - I think they’re kinda blingy and yucky. If it were a Vacheron that’d be a different story!

·

Not an offshore

·

I am not a big fan of AP from experiences with the brand from many years ago but do understand the appeal of the Off Shore iteration. If it were me, I might save for the AP, especially if the trade involved 3 watches that I might miss in the future. I get the feeling that saving might not be difficult for your budgeting.

Very nice watch you got there sir! Haha. Yea, I get everyone saying it’s too thick and big but every time I look at one I just lust over it 😅

Thickness. That’s a personal style choice. If you like it, then own it and go with it! 😎

·

Yes I traded two watches and added cash for My RGM 😀

I dont understand why people like the Royal Oak series so much. Large, brutish and crude looking watches.

On topic, how big is the chance you will miss those three you sold and will rebuy them again?

Hmm really depends since PAM 111 is harder to come by and definitely not at the entry price I bought for. The Omega SM 300 x Jacques Mayol is a limited edition as well. So yea, kind of hard to come by imo

Just dont end up rebuying them again, after you get the AP. And if those watches have some meaning to you, rebuying them will only give you a look alike.

That’s a spot on advice actually. Very very true! Thanks man

·

I would do it if this would be THE watch for me. Who knows what tomorrow will bring?

·

Nope, I don't like the RO, and the Offshore is even worse. And I like chronographs! But it sounds like the Offshore is your grail watch, so my input is pretty much worthless. This is your call. You have 3 nice watches, but if you really want the Offshore and it's worth the trade for you, go for it.

·

If the fitting all make sense, definitely. I usually don’t baby my watch. So I wear all of them

I suppose if you live in a decent area...
