NWA: ‘73 Omega Electronic F300Hz Genève Chronometer Day Date blue spider dial

Just picked up this little fun project watch so that I can post on Blue Watch Mondays with all my bluetiful watch fiends.

Image

The blue fumé dial is a nice shiny finish with the yellowed lume plots on the indexes matching the hands very well. Even the date wheel appears to have yellowed a bit, perhaps befitting of a smoker for the prior owner.

More details to come as I work up close on it.

A few quick notes:

  • Ref. 198.031

  • Dim: 38mm x 11.7mm, LTL 41.7mm

  • Wt: 54g on the strap

  • 19mm lugs, which is great for me as I have tons of 19mm straps.

  • The sweeping seconds hand is of course awesome.

  • The tuning fork hum is a bit higher pitch compared to the Zenith XL-Tronic in my collection. Difference must come down to the case design? Not sure as they are both Bulova ESA 916X movements.

Some pics under the hood:

Here’s some of the spidering, just barely visible to the naked eye and only under angled light:

And finally, always fun to see the Omega logo under the crystal:

Let me be the first to congratulate you on your new arrival. This is one awesomely delicious Omega. The blue dial is superbly blue 💙 more blue than Elvis Presley's Blue Suede Shoes, even.

I see you've polished up the crystal nicely and I guess you gave the case a wee rub at the same time 😳

Nice clean movement and the Omega symbol engraved on the crystal is a nice touch.

I don't know much about the movement but it's going to be very welcome in the Blue Monday Club 💙

Looks perfect, congrats!

·

Love these cushion shaped classic hummers! Beautiful dial, well laid out. See you on Mondays!

·

Stunning watch! Love the seconds markers

·

Congratulations! What a beautiful rich blue colour? Besides the blue it has at least two design elements that I have a weak spot for, the cushion case and the pronounced indicis. Well done👌

·

What a beauty 🤩 Always wanted an omega but really liking the vintage lines. This is definitely a major contender for my collection. ❤️

Absolute stunner💙.

·

Love these blue dial 198.030. Case looks top condition.

·

Al congrats on your bluetiful new piece, you know why I like this! 👌🏻💙👏🏻👌🏻😉😎

Looking forward to the restoration updates 👍🏻

·

That last picture is a beautiful visual delight, Al. Bravo sir on your new purchase! 🔥🫡🤝

·

Great new addition, Al. Collectors piece for sure💯 love it 👍🍻

·

That is one sexy little vintage omega

·

Very cool 😎 addition to your collection

·

Congratulations! I have my grandfather’s gold f300 from 1974. It still works and I wear it occasionally. The tuning fork movement is a neat piece of horology.

·

What a nice watch. I'm sure it will be extra special once you've finished rehabbing it.

·

Badass. Enjoy it brother!

·

Thanks for sharing . In your opinion, is it better than Bulova accutron? It’s definitely more beautiful but are they similar in the way they work? Please keep on sharing these wonderful pieces.

·

Great looking blue! Does it make the Accutron hum?

·

Very cool!

·

Nice pickup! Did you stumble upon it or were you eyeballing it for some time?

Really nice find Al. Amazing photos too but that goes without saying 🙂

Enjoy your fun with it. 👍

Great looking blue! Does it make the Accutron hum?

It’d be cool to have a little section on WC to post audios to hear this kind of things! Imagine finding all the different tickings and buzzings 😄 🎵

·

Congratulations Al, a true 💎 to add to your already wonderful collection 👏🏽

·

100% - if we could post high quality short vids and audio, my spinning MAD1, the electrostatic motor in my Accutron, the weird high speed second hand for 15 seconds when you first wind a spring drive ... and the interesting humm of an old school Accutron - so much fun stuff if/ when we can do that. Alas!

·

Congratulations, it's a stunner! A refined take on the 70s design, It is the prettiest hummer that I saw to date. The dial color and finish is to die for.

·

Looks cool 😎 Congrats and enjoy, my friend!

·

I LOVE it!!
