I'm based in Scotland, having moved here from Bristol in 2018. I have managed to rotate (one watch at a time) through Speedmasters, Aqua Terra, G Shocks, several casios, IWC Mark XVI, Hamiltons and others. This watch hobby is an illness, but one I'm hoping not to recover from. Currently wearing a Casio and taking stock. I'm in watch rehab. The best bit of advice is to get a watch for YOU. Don't listen to youtubers, just try watches on and discover what YOU like. Doesn't matter about the cost, or what's considered "best watch under £1000" by others. I'm narrowing my preference down to 36-38mm legible watches (pilot or field style), which are high quality, discreet and covered in scratches from a life well lived.

I used to think I wanted to collect. And then realised I'm just after maybe 3 very good watches - a daily, a "beater" and something for special occasions. I would struggle with more than 3 watches. Currently I sold everything, so only have casios and an old dressy Enicar. So I'm starting again
What I found with these, the crown felt a little sharp. You could tell the edge was not refined.. but having said that, the watch it lovely. Great finishing for the money, small size, lovely ticking sound, great on any 18mm strap...I didn't like the textured dial, but that's splitting hairs
