Home remedy for leather hole punch

Any suggestions for home tools I can use to add an extra hole to this strap. I love this strap but recently lost a lot of weight and I’m on the last hole. I have a goal to lose a little more so I know I won’t be able to use this strap soon. I’ve seen the hole punches on Amazon for $9 but I hate to buy that just to punch one hole in one strap. Most of my other straps still have holes to go. Thanks for the suggestions.

I have used a drill with a small drill bit. Just make sure you stabilize the band and maybe put on a piece of wood, and run the drill slowly at first so the band doesn’t start spinning away from you.

That or a hammer and nail.

You could also go to a leather shop and have them do it for you with the right equipment.

I'd second the suggestion of getting this done by a local leather shop if you don't want to spend the money on an hole punch. I have successfully done this with a belt before using a cordless drill and an 1/8" bit. It will work but the edges of the hole won't be pretty.

Might be easier to shop for “short length” watch straps over buying a punch & adding holes. Holbein’s, StrapsCo & @twostitchstraps just to name a few. Most straps are 120mm on the long end & 80mm on the hole end. Those sites & quite a few others offer a 110/70 combo for smaller wrists.

Seriously, just go into any shop that repairs shoes + leather. I went in once to ask how much it would be and before I could even describe what I wanted the guy had already done it for free. It takes 2 seconds.

Buy the hole punch. I’ve used mine for a couple different thinks now (belts, watches, etc) not a bad tool to own.

The strap removal tool will punch a tight hole that will slightly expand that’s what I did

If you have a Swiss Army knife around, most of them have a punch tool.

Ice pick

If you think you might do this task more than once, a strap punch tool is about $9US through Amazon.

I want to! I just wish my wife understood lol!

I punch holes on basically every strap I get. It gives me more fine adjustment as the typical holes are spaced 5mm apart. I take a small flathead screwdriver, like something that would get used for screws on a bracelet, line it up between holes and hit it with a hammer. It punches a real small hole and then I just put the buckle through it to open it up. After a few passes with the buckle, it's the perfect size.

Had good luck with this on my kids’ watches when having to punch new holes for their tiny wrists :)

Yip I was away to post the same. Bought one of these a few years back, I’m surprised how much I use it. Mostly it’s punching holes on straps for my 8 years old

Any show repair place will do it for you while you wait.
