Strap removal/change Tudor Ranger 39 mm

Asking for tips how to best remove the original rubber strap.

It's a really tight fit and not much room, if any between lug and strap. I have the standard bergeron spring bar removal tool.

I'm a bit hesitant to do this as I don't want to scratch the inside of the lug.

Tips appreciated.

The way to do it is exactly how you think you're going to have to do it. You'll scratch the lugs. It's OK.

Go for it! Those watches are better beaten up!

It feels like I'm scratching my soul 😱

Eventually yes. But not deliberately...

Okay, I get it. There will be some scratching. Probably unavoidable as I'm not a professional.

I use a scalpel, I tried different tools and to me a scalpel works faster and safer. If I have a bit of wiggle room I use a so-called inner sleeve for card games to not scratch the lugs.

Scratches come and (sometimes) go, but my main way to approach this is...

No.1: Always aim to scratch the underside of the lugs.

No.2: Never let the spring slip and scratch the front side of the lugs (dial side of the watch)

Best way to prevent this is by having something below the strap (your finger will do) which gives a little force to push it away from the dial side of the watch.

The first scratches are always hard 🍻

The Ranger likes a bit of scratches. Mine told me so.

I have no tips, but wanted to say I love the look of this watch on that strap and vastly prefer it to a black bay

I agree with you about the strap. I think it's absolute perfection for the watch.

Loop some floss around the spring bar and pull. It's how I deal with extremely tight tolerances

Worth a try! Thanks!

Get some blue tape around the lugs and go hard on the strap don’t worry it’s rugged

Removed the original rubber strap and put on an olive green textile strap with a brushed buckle. I'll go with this one until my Uncle bracelet arrives. Thanks everyone for all the tips!
