Birthday Watch Today! Topper Jewelry Got Me A Great Deal! NWA!

A couple of days ago, I did a poll on a watch selection. And it had to do with my birthday celebration reaching a milestone of 50! Reaching any age is definitely an achievement for anyone who has been through so much. So my selection and importance of a specific watch or level of luxury watch is not specific to everyone else. We all have different experiences in our lives that make them special.

For me, I wanted a watch that was well below the $3,000 mark. At my age, I have no desire put shit on ice. On Ice is a term Sneakerhead’s used to keep shoes in mint condition as much as possible. But that is no longer a thing. And luxury watches tend to do that to you sometimes.

What I wanted was a strong presence watch on a bracelet. So that day I didn’t get anything. My most favorite watch at the time was the Montblanc which would’ve set me back $3400 plus tax.

Instead, I went to Topper Jewelry in Burlingame, CA to check out their store. I never been there and they had Doxa! I wanted to see the 1500T. That’s a very strong looking piece!But I wanted to cover every watch possible.

I got Seiko. Seiko got me! This is the Seiko Prospex 8 Series model SLA073. I also own the SLA075 pictured below.

I wore the SLA075 on this shot during the Windup Fair in San Francisco.

I wanted to make sure I saw almost every Seiko Prospex watch that I was scoping online. Once I inquired about the SLA073, I had to have it! It was used, but here was the thing I threw me off the rails.

It retails for $2900. Their used price was probably for 2199. But they also knocked off $400 and 10% their asking price! DONE DEAL! Below asking out the door!

So two things are happening here. I got the perfect watch that checked most of the boxes. A standout piece that doesn’t break the bank. I can wear it on any occasion within my life. And it’s BEAUTIFUL! I feel like I really made good by the condition of the watch!

The other thing that the Seiko cave diver 8 Series may have is a horrible resale value. They also have the SLA075 used. But it’s selling for $2100. So I DEFINITELY got lucky to score the bracelet model.

So there it is. My 50th birthday watch is here. I am writing this at 1141pm pst, I have a few minutes left until my birthday is done. And it couldn’t have been a more perfect scenario! As I move along in the latter part of my life, everything is now a journey recognized to myself. And I’ll be wearing my watches along the way. I may be a watch collector, but sweet time is what I cherish the most.
