Finally got my dress watch!

Visiting Boston for the first time and upon going to Newbury street - realized everything was closed for Memorial Day.

Pivoted our adventure to Beacon Hill and needed to escape the rain - so did a quick Uber to Copley mall.

Walked into the Tourneau and had a lovely salesperson Lea Rago show me around the store. Boston seems to suffer from the same lack of Rolex-itis that is plaguing the world. 🤪

Paused at the JLC area and tried on everything they had.

Sent a note to my watch buddies with photos - and before they had a chance to answer back, I decided this beauty was the one!

Not 5 minutes later they tell me I should get the one I picked out. 😂

I couldn’t be happier! 😍😍😍

Great looking watch!

Congratulations on a fantastic pickup. Looks good on your wrist. Is it a monoface or duoface? I hope to add one to my collection some day.

Monoface. The sales rep said she wanted me to have at least one that stayed true to the original purpose of the watch. Plus a couple mm thinner.

Excellent choice.

Strong. I am in love with the duoface with the small seconds. I know the original intent was to protect the watch during polo matches but I love tracking multiple times.

The duoface was amazing also. 😍you will love it.

I have tried it on a few times. I think it looks great on the wrist. It is just a matter of time and circumstance.

One of my top favorites 💯

Congratulations 🥂

You won’t regret your choice, a true icon😍

Congratulations on a beautiful watch!

·

Awesome watch man!

·

Congratulations 👏👏👏 you will see it will give tones of good emotions 👍👌

·

Congrats, great choice and wonderfull watch. If not a secret/don't mind the question did you get some discount on it? Looking from recent price jumps perspective if they offer more discount now.

No discount was given, but a free extra set of alligator straps was provided. The black ones retail for ~$400 so not bad.

That’s a fantastic looking watch, congratulations. Enjoy in good health!

You got away cheaper than me. Stayed at Westin connected to where you shopped over the marathon weekend. Went over to V.C. Store and ordered the Historique 1942. Glad to know they were nice at Tourneau. Love your purchase!

The 1942 is a grail watch 😍and absolute piece of art! Hopefully your visit to the VC store was enjoyable as well! I’ve heard good things! May you enjoy it in good health!

I am 6’5” and about 285 with chronic resting bitch face per my daughter. She also claims I have a tendency to bump into people. They hadn’t had a 1942 in stock since they opened the boutique. I really wanted to see it in person. Came back about 10 minutes later and asked the associate if I could put down a decent deposit and order it. The manager came out and said I could order it with expected delivery in a few months. Staff was really nice. This is my third grail watch. May have my daughter join me when I pick it up as she works on Clarendon St.

That is amazing. What a great story! My girls are 10 and 6 but they’ve definitely expressed an interest in picking up the hobby with me. It’s been a lot of fun. What are the other two grails you picked up?

The reverso is a classic. Which size did you go with? I've been tempted in the past, but have yet to pull the trigger on a reverso. The grand taille was always the one I eyed up

I went with the large. Feels like a Goldilocks size on my wrist tbh. 🙏🏽

An umbrella would have been much more appreciated by your bank account lol

And why wouldn't Boston suffer from the same lack of rolex as the rest of the world? Boston is not exactly the center of the world or watch world for that matter...

Just my wishful optimism. They did have 8 Rolexes for sale - just nothing I wanted personally.

Nice; but dress to suit the watch, way too casual!

I agree! 🤣I was dressed to walk in a park not into an AD. 🤣🙏🏽

Welcome to Boston! Hope you’re enjoying it (outside of the watch) 😃

Thank you! It’s a beautiful city.

My first watch was a Seagull 1963. Second was a Kudoke 2 salmon dial with engraved movement. Had to spend tax refund. I vowed that would be it. A few months ago I saw a video on Oscar Waldman and discovered he white labeled a lot of triple calendar watches for the likes of Tourneau, Tiffany, Neiman Marcus and others. Saw Grand Central Watch had two different models in “mint” condition. They were brand new. Another refund put to good use. Those r my three grail watches. After the 1942 I think I am done.

Those are all super unique looking watches. Congrats! 🎊 Thank you for sharing! I’ve heard great things about the Seagull 1963. The KUDOKE 2 is incredibly elegant. And I had no idea about Waldman. 😮

As to the last sentence - I tell my friends this regularly when they say similar things…”oh, the lies we tell ourselves” 🤣🤣🤣

My daughter says she’s 5’10 but I think she is 5’12”. She is slowly getting into watches, the smaller the better, in her mind. Searching for a band for a citizen her mom gave her. Boston is nice, but it’s not North Beach Rd on Jupiter Island.

·

Awesome choice. Absolutely love a Reverso.

That would have been my choice of #jaegerlecoultre
