Which one?

Ok I'm reaching higher levels of irrationality with this new 'hobby', but I want to treat myself to a milestone. The Sinn is lovely. The IWC is lovely. The price differential is significant, but surmountable. Head says Sinn. Heart says IWC, and that would be my exit watch.... What say you my fellow vagabonds, pirates and costermongers?!

·

I'd go Sinn in this case, purely because of no date. If they offered the IWC without then obviously that's the better choice.

·

Sinn because IWC is overpriced.

·

Go with the heart

·

I have never owned either watch, but I did want to comment to applaud you fitting the word ‘costermonger’ into a post about watches. I had to google what it meant. Great word (and two lovely watches)!

·

The Mark XX is objectively better in every way. Better legibility, finish, movement, clasp, tells more than just the time. And for me, it's better subjectively too. That being said, I do love the Sinn. 😂

·

iwc. better design and superb bracelet... maybe one of the best bracelets in the entire industry at the moment.

·

Iwc all the way. Nicer hands. Arabic numerals for easy reading. Nicer bracelet style.

·

Of the 2 I’m drawn toward the Sinn, personally.

·

My preference is the Sinn for its unadulterated design and value proposition. Also, I don’t think there’s ever an exit watch unless you’re at the tail end of your life 😂 Preferences change and financial situations change (for better or for worse). These factors may lead you to another purchase 💸

·

Sinn is a lot cleaner and simple design which I really like. No date like others mentioned is also a plus. I think it would come down to what you get for the price with the IWC. Any special movement or is it standard? How's the bracelet compare?

·

Unless it has to be a flieger style:

I like Sinn more but it lacks date, so that's a minus. IWC is probably overall a better everyday watch while Sinn looks more like a tool watch.

·

I think both watches are very good, but very different. Put money aside for a minute, do you prefer a Flieger pilot's style watch, if so how much more do you like it than the Sinn? Also how important, or how much consideration should the movement add to the choice of watch? The IWC movement (made by la Manufacture Horlogère ValFleurier, which is owned by Richemont, which in turns owns IWC) is hands down better in every way. The SW200 is great, but just can't compete with something like this. After those considerations, I'd then factor in cost to make the decision. Good luck with your choice.

·

Definately the Sinn if you like the Sinn, but if you like the IWC more then definately the IWC.

·

IWC because Gordon Ramsay 🤣

Tudor

Sinn because IWC is overpriced.

So is the Sinn, but less so 🤪

·

I’ll say there’s no such thing as an exit watch. And buy a watch that you don’t want will always keep you thinking about the other one. What you should do is buying intelligent… I would say go for the IWC (even though I own the Sinn) because overall it’s a better watch, and also is the more expensive one. So if you ever decide to also get the other one you were hesitate around, you’ll have to save less money. And if you decide to buy the second one as well don’t buy it in the same color, go for a different dial so you can be covered on more scenarios 👍🏽

·

HEAD and HEART for the SINN. Beuatiful.

·

Iwc for me, I own the spitfire and the quality is just sublime 👌

Thanks. I love that word too - only came across it recently, when I was in York on a visit.

YOLO get the iwc

... thanks. I'm thinking like that more consistently these days.

·

I find the Sinn 556 quite plain and boring. I’m more drawn to IWC and that bracelet is something 🔥

·

Gotta go with iwc for the bracelet

... thanks. I'm thinking like that more consistently these days.

Especially if you feel it’s an exit watch. What I did was try to go through my box of watches I liked and trade each piece up. Now I have 6 awsome high level watches as opposed to 16 or so cheaper watches. It I traded smart and lost no money. If you want a iwc fleiger every time you look at your wrist your going to be thinking of the iwc so get it.

·

They wear different so try them both on.

With that out of the way, the bracelet and clasp on the IWC is a work of art.

The Sinn doesn’t have Arabic numerals (I prefer applied markers not printed numerals).

The Sinn doesn’t have a date (I’d want that).

Grrrr.. this is a hard one.

I guess if there really was an exit watch, IWC would be it. It would be a happy end to this madness.

Good luck 👍

If, it's a big IF that it is your retirement watch, get the IWC. If this is for a major milestone, then it takes you out of basic luxury and puts you into the next tier of luxury along sides Omega, Rolex, Panerai etc.

But if price is a factor go with the Sinn. I'm not a fan of either of the looks but for brand name recognition I'd get go with the IWC. But then again if it were my money and stuck getting one of these, I'd buy the Sinn then with the difference get a watch I really wanted 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

·

I would chose IWC.

If your heart wants the IWC you will regret not getting it and always have that not quite satisfied feeling.

I I’m

Here and now, Sinn. IWC as Exit
