Thoughts on the Zenith Pilot

This piece has been "flying" around in my head lately. What are your thoughts on the watch and the El Primero movement?

My wrist is around 16cm/6.25" round and about 2" wide. I am wondering if you think it'd fit properly. Thanks

❤️❤️❤️

If I buy a Zenith pilot's watch I would want the El Primero Chrono movement. I have a 6.5 inch wrist I don't mind going 42mm with a 50mm lug to lug.

Also overpriced I would get something better for 8k.

My choices would be:

This would be pushing it at 43mm but is damn good looking:

Another 42mm

Also at 39mm The Breguet Type XX is a huge come up

Good point. The 1/10th second pace of the chrono hand is pretty cool.

Saw this watch back in March, I think it’s a great looking watch. But yes a little expensive.

At what price would you consider it reasonable?

I have only had zenith in hand once and when I did I was super impressed with their quality. They are definitely a step above most of their competitors in terms of finishing and things of the like. They are expensive but for a reason

Far too close to an Aquanaut for me, would stick to a chronograph from Zenith.

I only have two thoughts for you - 1. YES!! 2. DO IT!!!

Haha. You got a point there.

I thought about this watch, but the long lug to lug killed the idea. I have small wrists too.

Have 2-3 watches with 48mm+ lug-lug dimension that wears ok. It was my concern also

·

I love the way it looks. 👌

·

I haven’t tried it on yet but I kind of love it. Really interesting take.

I would say mid $6k. I’ve seen used at around there.

·

I love this watch! I just wish it was in the 36-37mm, 44-46mm L2L range.

I was going to say the same thing.

Yes and more Yes!!

There is one for sale on Chrono24 right now for $5600, and it also is listed as negotiable. It really is a nice looking watch and you can't go wrong with a Zenith movement. But I also agree the lugs are long at 49.6mm. I really think you need to try one on to see if it would be acceptable to you.

·

I love the look but not the price.

·

Good movement, if you can get it with a 20% discount , it’s worth it

·

I want to like it, it's right up my street in terms of minimalist field watch vibes, the caseback and movement is lovely, and I've looked at it in ADs..

But, the case and dial proportions seem a little clumsy, everything's a little too large. The 'teak' dial detail is a tad too large, the digits are a font size too much, the lugs and bezel feel overly chunky.. I'd like everything to be sized down a bit.

·

Lovely 😍

·

I love pilot watches and Zenith was literally first in line for the title!. Think I'd buy one before an IWC but I can't afford that either.

·

The watch is great looking and after being anounced I expressed my interest and tried it on. All great but could not get pass the horizontal line at 6 and somewhat high price for what it is.

·

I think it’s a good watch priced like it’s an IWC … did I actually say that out loud ?

·

I like it very much, but I personally do also find it to be reminscent of the Aquanaut. Not sure if that alone would stop me from buying it though…
