I have a preference for German timepieces due to their exceptional quality (oustanding QC/QA) and cost-effectiveness (More bang for my bucks). In my opinion, several German brands are deserving of greater recognition compared to certain Swiss brands. But, I am curious to know your thoughts on this matter. Which brand do you favor, and why?
Please share anything that I might have missed to place on the wish list.

Thank you 😁 🙌
I voted Sinn cause I have a 556A. But I do have a soft spot for Tutima. Tutima was my first Automatic watch. I worn it everyday for about 10 years before I started really going crazy with watches.

You might get some blowback on what constitutes affordable, of these brands, Hanhart for me, but all are awesome. Of the brands many would consider affordable, Laco, hands down.
You really made me suffer putting the Hanhart and the Tutima up. I want both but Tutima have a DIN version.
I am relieved that 80% voted Sinn / Hanhart / Tutima. There will be more #nomos left for me.
I have 2 Sinn and 2 Hanhart watches. All great watches but if pushed I prefer the Hanharts.
Junghans
Tutima
Junghans
As a brand sinn as a specific model the hanhart 417
Laco all the way
I love them all, but we watch enthusiasts have a distorted sense of what the rest of the world might consider “affordable”! 😀
I’ve just bought this Sternglas. I chose quartz as the diameter / thickness ratio suits me better. It’s probably as cheap as any one can find right now, and it’s… nice. Great customer experience too.
Personally I like Junghans the most, but there's a lot more in the sub $1k category; Sternglas, Aristo, Kronsegler, Uhren van Uhr, Circula, Archimede, NB Yeager, Dekla, Schaumburg, Eza.
Bump 'affordable' up to $2k and you can add Churpfälzische, Milus, Damasko, Jean Marcel, Alexander Shorokhoff, Schaeuble & Sohne, Guinand, and, maybe, Wempe.

🤣😂 so true! 🫣

Thank you for pointing it out. I meant to say that we're not as expensive as Glashütte Original or A. Lange & Söhne. 🙌🫣
Pd: Thanks for checking in. It means a lot. You're the master of WC pools! 😁🙌
In my understanding of affordability, i pick Zeppelin/Junkers.

you are too kind! I totally know what you meant (and agree), but there is always a portion of the population that takes offense when their definition of affordable doesn’t match yours.
Tauchmeister. Although I think they have Chinese m'vments

So true!! 🙌 I guess that's why some YouTubers usually call as affordable below $500 to $1K, and etc.
"Affordable" is relative. I remember a time when "affordable" for me was any Casio that wouldn't cost more than $50. 🤣😂
I’m new to German made watches having just purchased Hanhart 417ES 1954 chrono. So far I’m thoroughly impressed. So much so in fact that I’m considering ordering a Laco Fleiger Pro to add to my collection. I have a couple of watches in what I would consider the “affordable” range of <$3k. Each is well made, dependable and has a design aesthetic that I find very appealing. They have taught me you don’t need to spend thousands of dollars to have a high quality timepiece.

I love my Hanhart Pioneer MKII. It was a gift from my wife to celebrate my 41st birthday and the arrival of our daughter. She usually hates all my watches, but she loves this one so much that she challenged me to wear it for at least a month. 🫣 In my wish list, I still have the 417 ES, the OG, and the Reverse Panda 🐼 in 39 mm.
I am a big fan of Ickler’s brands . I have one Archimede and one Defakto. Both are simple, sturdy beautiful watches. Their prices are fair, they offer hardened steel cases on certain models, and they use ETA or Selleta movements.
Sinn makes awesome watches too, but they’ve realized just how good they are and have raised the prices accordingly. My U2 is a tank, indestructible.
I’ve been window shopping Damasko recently. Might be my next purchase.

That U2 is on my list of watches to get 😬🙌. Cool watches you have there.
