It’s insane how swapping a strap/bracelet can make a watch feel completely new!❤️
When I bought this lovely grey dial Tissot Gentleman Silicium ref T127407160310, it came with the faux gator leather strap T610030633 which was love at first sight. Little did I know I was making a rookie mistake!
Turns out I have sweaty wrists and the leather strap rapidly started developing a funky smell. This completely removed the pleasure from wearing my first mechanical watch as it made me self-conscious about the foul smell. So, what was originally meant to be an EDC was halfheartedly relegated to the status of weekend warrior.
Contacted Tissot about this, and I was happy when they offered to send me a free replacement leather strap, without the steel buckles (valued at 49$). I just had to pay the handsome sum of 17$ plus taxes for shipping.
After some deliberating I opted to apply the credit towards the steel bracelet (T605047822) and man that thing is bloody expensive at $149 CAD plus tax and shipping. But it looks so good!
I regret nothing, because I learned a valuable lesson: always buy your watch with the steel bracelet option, leather straps are a dime a dozen! I wear my Gentleman everyday now and I love it.
What do you preferer: steel, or leather?

I like both bracelet and leather straps equally for my dress watch and swap between the two based on the mood or outfit.
Agree. Buy the bracelet if it comes with a decent one and then shop your extsting straps or buy it a fresh one.
I like both, but prefer straps, generally.
Try wiping a silicone leather waterproofing liquid on the inside of your strap (careful!).
The same stuff they sell at shoe stores.
That might help.
Nice bracelet!
Btw, I have oily skin and I understand your dilemma. 😃
I also got a Tissot on leather, which I find comfortable but have to same issue with smell and will be looking at bracelet options for my next watch.
I have two Gentlemen and I love them both. Great watch for the money. An Omega Aqua Terra at 20% of the price.
Nice watch, both ways.
Consider a rubberized, leather watch strap. I bought this cheap one for work and looks way better than the $15 price suggests.

That's amazing
Both look great but the steel is such an upgrade and makes it look sporty! 💎
