Looking to round out the collection Sinn 856 UTC vs The u50

I've done a few polls so this will be the last one for a while. I've narrowed down to two choices of fully tegimented Sinn's. I've also added my current collection so you can get an idea what it's joining.

Now my head says the UTC is a better option because, well, it's a GMT something I don't have and it should wear slightly larger as it has no bezel (all my other watches are quite large in diameter 43mm for the GO, 43mm for the Laco and 41.5mm for the Nomos)

The Sinn U50 however feels like something I'd wear more design wise and feels more authentic Sinn to me (whatever that means) . But it's another diver and I'm worried it's diminutive (relatively speaking) dimensions would be accentuated with the bezel. I have considered the U1 but don't like the Sw200 movement in it.

Anyway, would enjoy people's insights if they have any about owning either of these pieces.

·

U50. Your feeling is usually more correct than your head when it comes to watches😉

·

U50. Better looking watch to my eye. Also seems a better fit with what you currently own due to the blocky markers and hands. I recently bought one. It's just a really cool, rugged watch. Really strap versatile too.

·

Both are quintessential Sinns.

I’d probably go for the U50 because it’s more different than your other pieces. Non-numeric indices, thick-ass steel colored bezels, Lego handset, 4 o’clock crown, and kinda fugly ugly (in a good way).

Now if you’re looking at a 857 with the bezels, I’d probably swing that way. The 856 always struck me as odd with its bezel-less design…

Good luck 🍻

U50.

·

I think that the U50 is the better choice of the two, in light of your considerations. 🖤🖤🖤

·

They’re all nice but different. I like them all but if I had a wish I would go for the Sinn U50.

·

I actually prefer the 856 non UTC- the U50 is a great choice too

·

The u50 is incredible. It’s one of my most worn watches and 20x cheaper than some of them.

Tegimenting is worth it btw. Especially if you plan on keeping the u50 on the bracelet.

·

I don’t own either watch but of the two I’d get the 856. I prefer that style of watch and the GMT hand is very subtly integrated. You can’t really go wrong with either choice though.

·

Both great watches, but personally I love the look of the U50 so that would be my choice!

If you're worried about size I would definitely try it on, as think that your worries are warranted given the other watches in your collection.

·

I would say the U50, ... but then again, I already have a NOMOS GMT PLUS and a Seamaster GMT. Good luck!

·

Nice collection!

I agree with your head. You already have a diver but you don’t have a GMT.

·

If you like the look of the U50, but are after a UTC/GMT, consider the SINN 105 UTC.

·

My Sinn collection is close to this - I have the 857 and a U1. If I had to keep only one, it’d be the U1….. design classic!

·

UTC in my opinion since you’ve already got a stellar diver.

·

#sinn u50 is one hell of a watch. I would take it 123%.

·

You definitely have a theme in your current collection. If you want to stay on theme, the 856 would be the right move. Otherwise the U50 to get a bit more variety.

I think it depends a lot on how you are used to wear your watches. I ended up selling my 856 for the sole reason that i am wearing my watchis very distal on my forearm m, which resulted in the significantly protruding crown uncomfortably digging in my hand. I‘ve tried all strap options, but the result was always the same. Other than that the 856 UTC is effing close to a perfect watch! The tegimented steel is incredibly scratch-resistant!
