New Release: Gloss Black Omega AT in Three Sizes

Image

I'm not a huge Omega fan. I often find their modern releases a little over cooked in the design department. Despite this, the trilogy of '57 re-issues they released a while back (Railmaster, Seamaster 300 and Speedmaster) are up their with my all time favourites and I'm a huge fan of the Seamaster 50th Anniversary GMT.

I'm not actually a huge Aqua Terra fan either but this is a really solid release imo.

They're available in 34mm:

38mm:

And 41mm:

I have a feeling that these are going to be really well received.

I'd be interested in hearing what everyone else has to say about the current Omega catalogue and whether anyone else thinks this, frankly, pretty boring and 'nothing new to see here' release from the brand somehow feels like a breath of fresh air?

Here's an article:

I’m a fanboy of the teak dial. That, to me, is what really separates the AT from other models and really elevates it.

·

I understand the addition of a 34mm will cover a broader swath of potential buyers. I’d have been more interested if they came out with a 36 instead

I'm glad you said that Mike.

I should make it clear that I'm not Omegas target market. I tend to gravitate towards reissues and 'boring' black dialled watches that nod towards 'classic' watch design, but the AT's from the early 2010's with the vertical 'teak' dials always appealed to me more than the current crop of AT's - and these really remind me of them, but better.

Part of the reason why this is such a good release is that it gives me (and those with similar taste to me) a watch that's not a re-issue or based on a 50+ year old design something to be excited about from Omega.

But I wonder if everyone who likes Omegas current design language will feel fairly 'meh' about it?

Yeah, I've got a 20cm / 7.75in wrist and much prefer the way the 38mm AT's wear to the 41.

So I tend to agree. These 3 handed all rounders are better when smaller, but I'd feel stronger about that if it didn't have a date comp TBH. I tend to think that the addition of a date necessitates a little more size - but that might be a reflection of my wrist size.

I love the Terra shades versions of the Aqua Terra but this black dial sadly doesn’t do it for me 🤷🏻‍♂️

·

Personally a big fan. Did they release any other ones recently alongside this black one? Are these available already too? Don’t see it on the Omega site. Prefer this bracelet over the bracelet that comes on the teal dial.

Dunno about availability - it didn't say.

No other colours were announced today and I agree 100% about the bracelet.

·

I like the Aqua Terra and especially the Seamaster. Speedmaster leaves me cold generally.

·

Damned! I've been looking for an Omega a while but so far most of them were too large for me. I better not show these to my wallet.

·

Big Omega fan here.

Personally I prefer their retro reissue stuff, but I'm like that with all watches - not into modern designs or haute horology, just doesn't do owt for me - I like my watches old fashioned and tooly , except for my old quartz Aqua Terra, which looks similar to these apart from the date placement ( much prefer it at 6, but would rather have no date at all)

So yeah, love the new range & I'm sure they'll sell well.

Feels like a very ‘sensible’ release. Much in the same way I bought my Tudor years ago, this works perfectly for someone wanting to commit more money than they have previously on a Nice Watch TM.

I love the teak dials and the shades series, but realistically this is probably the watch you buy when you’re finding out what you like and landing on Omega.

Interesting. Thanks.

I went the other way myself. When I started out I was way more adventurous with dial colours, case shapes ect. than I am know. The longer I'm in it the blacker and more 'traditional' my watches have become.

🤷🏻

34mm to me is the odd size out. I like to wear 36mm and my wife likes 30mm.

·

They look really good, I just wish they kept the polished/brushed surface like on the other AT watches. Now the whole case is polished

·

I’m ok with boring

·

Not a huge fan of the AT, but I do like this.

·

I have the blue AT 41mm. Love the watch - just from the looks as well as how easily it can switch from a sporty watch to a more dressy one…

These feel like th Rolex releases at WaW. Conservative in a retracting watch market. Omega is trying to pass off the same thing as something new. No new design or creativity. They are taking parts they have already produced on other ATs and swapping out a Boring black dial. Trying to pass off the same old stuff as something new.

Boring and not creative being the key terms.

·

Huge Omega and Aqua Terra fan but not big on these. To my eye, the AT needs the color and texture to match the rest of its flair (compared to some other, more dull GADA watches out there).

·

7,300€, absolute madness

Does it have micro adjustment on the bracelet?

Yes

·

Yes

Tempting, the pricing however is confusing.

Both work definitely but the 38mm would be my preference. I find AT's seem to feel like a bigger watch than they are, if that makes sense. It could just be my preference for slightly smaller 3 handers though.

I get you. Wise choice. I flinch when I see people wearing hockey pucks. And I despair when they get encouraged with “wear anything you like”.

·

The new bracelet...oh man.

·

I cross shopped the AT when I was trying to get my Explorer and was frustrated with the waitlist. I thought the teak dial looked great in person, but trying it on it felt very meh. If this had been out at the time I probably would have gotten it instead. Now I have my Explorer and can’t justify both. If this is successful and they come out with a white enamel though maybe I could be swayed

·

This will and always kick ass! Better than a explorer? Yep in my opinion… kill me
