Day 6 of Chronograph Week brings forth a special edition IWC Antoine de Saint Exupery Chronograph, a tribute to the renowned pilot and author. There is much that is often misunderstood about "The Little Prince", the famous book written AND illustrated by St. Exupery. Many are unaware that the story was partially the result of the author and his mechanic surviving a plane crash in the Sahara. Near death after eight scorching days in the desert they were rescued by tribal nomads and the author would go on to have many more adventures (and plane crashes!) that he would incorporate into his enduring tales with deep underlying themes. Often mistaken as a children's book due to it's brevity and whimsical structure "The Little Prince" is unlike any other book written before or since. Highly recommend!

Yes T. The brown colorway and stitched leather strap are supposed to represent Exupery's flight suit.

Digging the brown more than perhaps I thought I might. Have a Great Weekend!

Beautiful and unique. I don't think I've seen one on WC.

Thanks D! I most often see the gorgeous blue dial IWC's but for whatever reason this brown Exupery model grabbed me to become one of my only "major" watch purchases for the year.

I slowed my roll quite a bit though $300 and under watches keep creeping into the house and I'm still registered for a no-date Sub. Progress not perfection!

Have a Fabulous Weekend!

I got the call! For a watch I didn't want 🤣. First time in two years that an AD called me. Rolex Wimbledon 36mm. I politely turned it down (thankfully it's a model I hadn't asked for). Felt good nonetheless.

Have a good evrning Jack.

Wow! It's another sign that fruit is falling from the tree.

I'm pretty sure I messed up a call for my Sub that happened when I was off grid a few months back. It was bad timing for me to go off-roading and now the sales associate that called has moved on.

A literary classic. In 3rd grade my teacher read the story to us, and then in 6th we went on a field trip to see the play at the Performing Arts Center. Fondly remember the cartoon with him running around B612 and then the film in 2015 had its own charming take on the story. And who of all people to clue me in that they made a commemorative watch!

I'd be interested in hearing your take on you reading the book again as an adult so lmk if you want to borrow my copy. We can start the world's smallest book club for watch geeks called "The Wrists That Read Literary Society and Drinking Team".

There are underlying themes in "The Little Prince" that I didn't fully get during my earlier readings. I now believe those existential subplots are central to the author's intent when he crafted the deceptively simple book like the layers of an onion.

I may take you up on that. I think my teachers' penchant for it hinted at its allegorical nature but I never revisited the book. Maybe now's the right time.
