Loooong before I knew what little I know now about watches I wore a Bulova Marine Star 91C18 because of the 660 feet WR, the dark stealthy PVD case and that new fangled quartz technology. I beat the crap out of it in the 80's bopping around the West Coast, Mexico and the South Pacific. After a decade of everything from coral rash from actually diving to curb rash from overactive drinking it started having "issues". A local watchmaker laughed while he told me it wasn't "worth" repairing and I still say a silent eff u everytime I recall that moment. "Worth" can be oddly irrational when it bumps up against nostalgia. I've been unsuccessful in finding a replacement 91C18 though I've been searching for years. Recently though I found this 1990 gold tone Marine Star, also with the rare 660 feet dial marking. I had originally bought it to do a parts swap and revive the 91C18 however upon seeing it's condition I couldn't bring myself to butcher a 35 year old gem like that. It even came with it's original bracelet! The Seafood counter at the market today is about as close as the "new" Marine Star will get to the ocean but I think me and this humble little quartz diver are going to make some new memories while the search for a 91C18 continues.

Nice story, Jack. The TT variant does look incredible for a 35 year old diver. Thats one you definitely have to rock going forward and make those new memories 👊🏾!! Enjoy your weekend.

Good luck with the search, I hope some of those watches will start showing soon on ebay.

That is one pristine find. Thank goodness for the dark forgotten corners of junk drawers.
