The Islander ISL-68 with its fully lumed Great Wave off Kanagawa dial is a perfect watch for lazing about around the beach during the summer. The problem is that I never done it, even though lazing about is my life vocation and that I spent a lot of my earlier years at the beach.
I'm a complete failure at leveraging my natural gifts.
Evidently, part of the blame can be placed on the watch itself. Sand and steel bracelets are not a good combination, and getting salt water inside the bezel mechanism will force me to spent time washing and cleaning. This will turn a supposedly fun day at the beach into something that start looking like real work, and we all know that real work is something terrible that should be avoided at all cost - Company meetings were invented just for this after all.
But work related jokes aside, the ISL-68 is not the perfect watch for the beach, despite looking like the part. The problem is the weight because at around 150g on the bracelet it weight too much to be comfortable when swimming. So it's a great summer watch which is not that great for doing summer things.
Well...that's not 100% true because there are summer things for which the ISL-68 is great, like doing nothing at all while drinking coffee.

Yours looks very nice, sorry to hear about the sand. Love my Northport and have at least 3 other ISL watches on the 'short' list!
