My first G-Shock, 40 years later

I've posted the parts list here, but the one correction is that I got the crystal from Watch & Style, not Crystal Times.

The case is available from Watch & Style.

Thanks for the tips on the shops; I’ve only heard of Modmode. I’ll check out the others, as well as the Seiko Modders Club!

Of course, there's always the custom fabrication route. 😅 Might be economical if a few people pooled their resources.

Right now, I've ordered some custom-fabricated bezel screws for the original G-Shocks (the originals are hard-to-find) and sharing the costs with a group.

(This is an early sample screw; the thread pitch isn't right yet.)

OEM is certainly high quality, but it says "Seiko"— and I'm not trying to pass this build off as a real Seiko. Also, the slim case back I'm using is only rated to 100m. :)

These are all self-imposed constraints—some extra rules that make the project a bit more challenging.

Remove the spring bar from the back (put your watch face down on something that won’t scratch the crystal) and if it scratches, it’s less visible.

Thank you. Unfortunately, he passed away last summer (I cleaned out his truck in the spring) but I’m glad I was able to ask him about his watch.

I passed the watch along to a collector who has an interest in radium dials. We’ve had quite a few radium dial watches in the family and the dust can be dangerous if inhaled.
