Too big ?

Got this pre owned Frederique Constant (36x46mm) and well, it wears a little big. The question is, do you crunchers feel it’s TOO big ?

·

To be honest it does look too big based on the pics.

For that style case 36x46 is pretty generous.

·

Yes. Sorry

·

It's too big (that's what she said).

It's the height (lug-to-lug) that makes it seem too big. My own preference is that you have to see skin above and below the watch (not counting the strap, of course) for it to fit appropriately. But that's me.

·

Look at the bright side, the dial is so legible.

·

Unfortunately, yes. 😢

·

There might be lens distortion, but taking the photos at face value, I'd say the watch's size is at its extreme limit at a minimum.

·

For me, yes it’s too big. If I saw someone else wearing it I wouldn’t think much of it. It’s not ridiculous. It’s also not my style of watch so that factors into my opinion. Everyone has different tastes. If you like it, wear it and don’t worry about it. It’s a nice watch.

·

Yes it is, sorry to say. This is a strange judgment call. Watch Tim Mosso on YouTube (the 1912 company) for excellent tips about watch size. His reviews of grail watches are also fun to see.

Lots of people will say “if you like it, wear it”, but I’m afraid that’s not good advice.

Now I’m going to be beaten up…

·

That’s huge on you.

·

This is a big watch, 43mm X 51mm. Notice how it still doesn’t completely overwhelm the wrist. Now, I feel it’s too big for me (it’s being sold), but it’s still within reason if you like wearing huge watches. Maybe this will help?

Kidding.

I tend to agree with you. If I followed that advice, I would be going to the office shirtless and in fliplops, which will make it the shortest stint at a job ever.

Hilarious GIF! 😂

·

Based on the pics it looks too big for you. Sorry. 😔

·

Should post a different angle not above the watch like this

·

If you wear it where you got it now it's fine. If you wear it over the wrist bone it will look huge. But I think there or farther up the arm away from the hand will make it work.

Also depends are you more on the short side or tall side? If you are a bit taller it helps too. Even if you are leaner but taller it still works.

Plus having it that big makes a statement. I got a 45mm Hamilton Jazzmaster Maestro and it makes a statement everyone always asks about it. Even watch shop ADS are curious

People will be curious about it. It's a good conversation starter as well. Ppl don't joke about mine. In my entire office history since I got it in 2012 only one person made fun of it and he already was trying to bully me before I even got it, so he was an office bully already anyways trying to say negative things about me. Everyone besides that one guy who wore shorts and a Boston bruins t-shirt to work and had a zz top beard, has thought that size is cool. Ppl online will joke about it occasionally but they won't do it in real life. In real life they will be curious what brand is it etc. is it IWC etc. plus it's unique.

ALSO I had a huge Diesel brand 48mm watch I took on my trips to Korea and a couple of times really sexy Korean girls in there 20s came up to me out of nowhere and told me my watch was beautiful. So bigger watches if you wear it, it can make you appear more masculine. And girls like masculinity, most of the time even if they don't admit it. So it also depends if you are going for that look.

Now the DOWNSIDE, I wore this Hamilton everyday for seven years. But now when I put it on even for one workday its heavy and irritates my wrist a bit because of its size. So I got a less heavy watch, a 41mm B&R v2 that I will daily drive instead of this Hamilton. Plus mine and yours is a dress watch. So you can wear it as a daily beater but it might feel heavy and get tiresome after a while who knows. But just wear it to work everyday and church, it's fine. See how it feels and see how the compliments and questions will roll in.

It looks a little big on your wrist. What size is your wrist?

·

If you like it, wear it! 98% of people aren't going to notice your watch anyway, let alone judge the sizing

If you feel like you're going to be self conscious every time you put it on though, moving on might be the right move 🫠

·

Lovely timepiece. Congrats. From the displayed photos, the watch does wear big on the wrist

·

If you want my opinion, yes, it is wearing too big. 46 mm in a rectangular case is normally too big for any normal person!

·

Unfortunately the self doubt is already there, so despite it being a beautiful watch, in your own mind it's not a keeper!

·

I am going say "no" here

It is big but not too big, tonneau watches are meant to wear big. never compare circular watches to tonneau watches, they are 2 diff design watches.

·

Bit big but I still like it.

·

I’m not a size snob and if you like it that’s that! If it were a G-shock I doubt anyone would make a fuss of it. I think it looks great on you. Always loved big watches though my next purchase is going to be my smallest. Will you regret not owning it? Because that will be a bigger problem.

·

If it makes you happy, who cares how big it is. I think it's a great looking watch, I have some outrageously big g shocks that I still wear haha 😄 so this is fine

·

I’ve owned that watch and it is a big watch indeed

·

Yeah…it looks big in your photos.

·

Honestly it looks big

·

If you like it, that’s all that matters 👍

·

Does not look weird from third person perspective but I wouldn’t wear a watch this big it could feel very cumbersome
