Microbrands.. of course!

Imagine there's a rule that you can only add a microbrand to your collection, with a spending limit of $1500. From the list below, which one would you choose?

Please specify any particular model in the comments if you have one.

(I also wanted to include Baltic, Formex and Zelos.)

Amazing brand, is top of my list

·

Not that anyone asked, but I really don’t get Unimatic. What’s the point in a dive watch bezel with no markings?

Well said! We can add that one too.

·

Overall I prefer the Farer catalog out of all these brands, especially the Lander IV and the Erebus II.

·

I chose Nodus, but definitely Formex and Vaer, too. So tough to limit microbrands with so many playing well in that price range

CW12

Recently made a purchase from an Italian micro brand “Venezianico”. 10/10 customer service; fast deivery (2 days from italy to bulgaria); they gave me a great discount and gift for my birthday and most important the quality is superb. Got the 39mm diver GMT and it is amazing.

(And Christopher Ward isn't a microbrand...)

·

Love the CW Sealander 39mm. Simple but versatile. Looks great on bracelet, leather or rubber. Farer offer some interesting left field choices. Their Lander or Discovery are very appealing.

·

A, albeit the one I really want is over this budget. But CW has several in budget which are great.

·

Curious when does one graduate from microbrand status? (CW)

·

Zelos for me

Formex or Farer. Unimatic is the only watch I've ever sold

Why you sold it?

From that list, Nodus.

Nodus' NodeX bracelet extension is being used by Vero, Vaer, Sangin (highly upgraded for them), Raven, and some others that havent been released yet.

Seriously, it's that good. And I'm a NATO singlepass guy.

Personally Sangin Instruments. Though getting the lottery for a Kinetic II, Neptune, or Professional is difficult to say the least.

Weiss, RGM, CW, Formex, and a few others I'd consider independents.

I really like Nodus too especially the Raven version

You mentioned great micro brands 👍

I would definitely add #maen and #traska 🤩🙌

True.. I think Maen are doing excellent watches. My pick would be Manhattan salmon dial.

Christopher Ward isn’t a microbrand.

Debatable, but I get your point. 😊

If one wants a solid GMT field watch that isn't a straight up clomage, it's the one to get, IMO.

Nothing to debate, Christopher Ward are an independent, they make their own movement, they make movements for others, nothing micro about them 😉

If it wasn’t for YouTubers + all the potential checks cut by CW, it still be 3 men in a boat.

Why you sold it?

It just didn't work for my tastes The straight lugs, no markers and very basic design ended up not being appealing

Yip, and if Rolex didn’t lie about all the so called first I dare say they would not be the force they are today. Regardless how they managed to grow to where they are they are definitely not a micro and infact were trailblasers for the microbrands as their model was to sell straight to the client without shops, prior to this it was shops and smoke.

That’s a very good question.

·

Out of these, Nodus Tuxedo fa sho! Sad LORIER didn’t make the cut :/

·

I came across this brand called Echo Neutra yesterday and I couldn't stop thinking about this diver with a small seconds and a power reserve indicator.
