Tudor Northflag, the unexpected driving watch

Recently I have seen some posts of the Tudor Northflag and I concur that is an incredible watch and maybe the best Tudor (because it’s uniqueness) . Now I want to point that for me this watch is an uncovered driving / racing watch ! Look at the dial ! Looks like a speedometer or a gas meter ! The yellow gives you sportiveness and with the leather strap looks quite handsome on the wheel with some gloves. The hands with the arrow gives you a sense of direction and movement. Am I the only one? Let’s talk now about this unique watch and the (most of the times ) forgotten leather strap.

These really are so cool. Such a shame they stopped making them, I'd put this on my dream list in a heartbeat. Not sure if there is anything really like it either. A style of it's own.

Man you should try to get one ! As it looks like you really like it ! I was super fortunate to find a NOS one in a very small jewelry !

Wish I had the money for one they really are spot on. I'd have to say that I'm not really a fan of Tudor but as soon as I saw this I changed my mind. I like to have a goal of something to work towards, so who knows. Once i have a bit of cash one might turn up on the market or Tudor reintroduce😄

Great collectors watch.

It is indeed ! When I bought it last year I felt super proud !

·

Really like these. One of the few Tudors that I'd be interested in adding.

I stopped by to chat with a young guy who was promoted to store manager after working a number of other locations for a large Canadian business was around when I picked up my NF a few years ago when he first started at his present assignment. I wanted to order an OEM strap because I intended to pass the watch to my older daughter. Guy tells me that a few years ago there was zero demand for the watch, readily available but the minute Tudor stopped selling it, customers would inquire and go on about how it is great, best Tudor ever. He is starting to get the same feeling about the Ceramic BB, lots of interest when it was first launched when supply was low, now that it is easily sourced nobody wants one.

Damn shame they discontinued it and bought out more Bland Bays instead. Love it 😍👍🏼👍🏼

Missing my NF now that you brought this matter up. It's my absolute favorite of the herd. It has been in the watch spa for about 2 months now. 😒

I literally just picked one of these up a week ago! I had always wanted one but they were discontinued right about the time I started collecting. Most of the ones I have found are scratched up pretty bad or have the corners of the end links dented. A little over two weeks ago I saw one advertised as "excellent" so I took a really good look at the pictures that were posted and it did appear to really be in excellent condition. The price was a little high, but it did come on the "H" link bracelet and that also appeared to be in good shape. When it arrived, I was blown away by how good a shape it was in for a watch originally purchased in 2016! It also came with original outer box, presentation box, paperwork sleeve with warranty card, instruction manual and warranty booklet, and hang tag. It even included the factory Tudor black and yellow leather strap with deployant buckle. None of those items were in the sales listing. Considering all the additional items included with the watch, I think I got a great deal. The only thing I'm unsure of was if the bracelet had all its original links. I could see evidence the screws in the links had been unscrewed and re-tightened. It had four links on one side and five on the other. (Does anyone know how may links the bracelet came with originally?) I called my local Tudor AD to see if they had spring bars for the watch, (I think they are 12mm). After speaking with Tudor she indicated I could get a set of 5 spring bars for $25 and and extra links were available.

I like the way this watch wears. I have worn it for a little more than 42 hours over the last week both with a suit and sport coat and with casual clothing and have zero complaints. The legibility is amazing, it keeps great time, and fortunately the micro-adjustment works well for me. I wish there was a Steel Reef "on the fly" adjustment link available like for my BB GMT, but we can't have everything.

I always wanted an Explorer with the 3/6/9 Mark II dial. I liked the look and thought it would be very legible. Well, I can say the North Flag has made me forget about the Explorer. In my opinion, it has better legibility due to its size, large applied markers, and arrow hour hand, and better utility for what I do day to day with a date function. I'm also one of those weirdos that like a power reserve indicator, so I see that as a plus too. I also really like the shape of the crown.

I can see why you would like it as a driving watch, it is really easy to tell the time at a glance.

Yeah! I think also supply and demand are related but also the design and the fact is not your typical Tudor has something to do with its current status

Actually I also liked the Rolex Explorer and it was the Northflag that made me forget about that one . In comparison the design is boring in the Rolex . In a way, for me, the Northflag is the Explorer of the future . I got one as a NOS in a small jewelry in Mexico City last year ! I was super fortunate . BTW I got the original bracelet later in Rolex this year and it came with ten links ;) hope I solved your question.

Thank you for the info. I will post photos of the links, watch, and spring bars when I receive them. By the way, I noticed that you live in Mexico. I know that MIDO is very popular in Mexico and releases a "Dia de los Muertos" (DDLM) dial every year. I also know that Chopard has done a few as well. However, neither of them offer those models in America. Are there any elegant DDLM watches you have run across in Mexico?

Thanks!
