My Wedding Watch!!!
I've spent the last 6-9 months deciding what my wedding watch was going to be. There's been a strong trend towards 39mm or smaller watches, and I couldn't be happier... But not many of them gave me "the fizz".
I wanted a dressier piece, so it was between the Cartier Tank Must large, Cartier Santos medium, the 36mm green DJ, and the Grand Seiko SBGW289. The DJ is significantly more, but we all know the value retention of the crown is 💋 🤌🏼
Anyway I tried them all, and I thought for sure the DJ was going to take it (and my god was it good on the wrist), but the heart wants what it wants. And the dark horse was surprisingly the one that gave me "the fizz". I was SHOOK-eth, SMITTEN, down right in love with the Grand Seiko. Is it pink?? It's it silver?? Ugh it's just so gorgeous. So I did what every analytical man would do. I put a deposit down, said I'd have a decision by next week and walked out of the AD.
By god, I thought about that watch at every moment I had to myself for the whole week. That was it. I bought it. It will be the watch I wear on my wedding day next month, and I'm even more excited about our big day now than I already was.
I'm shipping it to my parents to save a bit on taxes, so I basically won't see the watch again till wedding day. Meaning on the same day, I'll get to see the love of my life in her wedding dress, AND I can be reunited with the watch that will commemorate our very special day. Needless to say, I am a very happy man. And I can't wait to celebrate this day with all our loved ones wearing this incredible timepiece.
Thanks for reading this far. I just wanted to share this big moment with my fellow Crunchers, and to lock these thoughts and emotions into a place that I can come back and reminisce on in the future.

It’s a beautiful watch and in my opionion understated. I like the case size and also because it’s not a basic choice. Special day, special watch! There is a grail GS with leather strap which has also a pink dial. If I could choose one watch for my wedding, it would be this. But as I said, at the moment it’s just one of a few grails
More realistic at the moment is this beauty

Yes I love the perfect marriage (see what I did there? Did you see it?) of the omiwatari case and movement and the shunbun dial, all wrapped up in a gorgeous rose gold to make the pink pop even more

You're bang on about needing to research and look for awhile to find the GS for you though. They certainly don't make it easy, but it's definitely worth the effort

Aww man it's so good. The color changing shimmer got me bad, and it's so elegant without being dainty like the tank. It was hard not to just buy what's popular, but most popular things look great in displays, and just didn't look good on my wrist. I'll have several straps waiting for it after wedding day too

Hell yeah brotha 👊🏼! The shunbun is a very special watch. Congratulations to you 😁 🎉 I'm so excited to be reunited with my watch, and I'm glad I have to wait to see it again. It'll be a great first story and great memory years later when I think back about how my journey with this watch began

Have you found any 18mm straps that you think would go well? I'm definitely getting grey suede and navy suede to make it more suitable for casual wearing. But there's some olive straps and brown straps that I think would go really well too. I just can't wait to get this piece back in my hands!!
I have a few 18mm straps around here but I haven't tried them yet as I'm more of a bracelet guy. Maybe I'll post some in the next few days and see if they work. 😅
